So i started working with zee5 as a Smart TV developer right out of college. After about 2 years , in March 2024 , layoffs happened due the merger between Sony and Zee was called off.

So i was looking  for Software developer opportunities , after multiple rejections , hundreds of application, got a decent offer from To The New for the same position of Smart TV developer . I am also getting some raise on the previous CTC , which i am glad considering the current market situation.

So i just wanted to ask about the org To The New , how its work culture is ? Also like what are the growth prospects there ? Also since technically it provides service to other big techs.So will it be an issue if i want to switch to a better product based company.

Give your thoughts , just asking for some insights.

What is the probability of generating significant wealth (1-5Cr) by working at startups(Both US headquartered and India headquartered) in India? 
Is Generating wealth through ESOPS normal thing in India or very few lucky ones make such money? 
Do you know guys who have made significant money by working at startups? 
If yes, what parameters one should look for while identifying such startups?

I am thinking of leaving my current job and focus on myself, getting to know myself better etc. Currently I have enough money saved for my expenses for next 6-8 months. 
   Everyone I have asked about this say don't leave your job if you don't have another lined up, in this tech winter. I understand their view point. It aligns with what my parents think as well.

Is there anyone who has had done this in the past? Do you recommend this route? Are the consequences far too severe? Does anyone have a different opinion from one stated above?

Anyone ever left job without having another job lying around for their mental peace?

I'm in the same boat, on the verge of quitting, and will most probably take the leap next month.

I myself am a Software dev with more than ten years of exp. 

I mentored a bunch of folks and was active in lot pf communities. I have been noticing this trend for more than couple of years about how freshers and developers with experience of less than two three years are aggressively looking to switch companies to target 30L or 50L or whatever they are currently looking for. 
But I feel this is really bad for future in terms of career growth. I am not against looking for the best offer, but I feel people recently don’t have any priority for career growth. 

I am trying to understand their perspective. I am not jealous of any of these. Heck I prefer that they get more, so that they have to increase my pay to keep up with current trends. It’s just when people ask me for career guidance I don’t want to sound like a jerk to prioritise good work over good pay. 

Can you guys share your inputs/perspectives?

Hey folks,

I'm currently working for a US client and I am 100% billable to them if that information matters. According to the offer letter, the notice period is of 90 days but there's a buyback option where one can choose to pay and not serve the notice period. But from what I've heard, it's up to Capgemini to accept that buyback offer or not.

So I've recently received an offer from a Singapore based startup and I told them that I can join in 30 days cuz if I hadn't, they wouldn't have even interviewed me in the first place. 
They're okay with buying back my 1 month and let me serve 30 days but I'm concerned what if Capgemini refuses to let me leave.

What are my options here? Can I tell them that I'm leaving company due to some personal/health issues so I can get an early release. Do I need to involve a lawyer?

Just a random thought which popped in my mind that when you say online classes most people tend to feel uneasy due to how online classes were conducted by our traditional schools / colleges which to be very honest the faculties are technologically challenged and lack the tools or knowledge to conduct them. It was just a joke tbh. 

Now however people have that idea of online education in mind which means they are completely against online education and EdTech even though these are companies who have the knowledge and technology to conduct them well and are made for online education. 

How can we fix this mess and do you think EdTech will survive as an industry or become obsolete in India ?

Do you think traditional schools / colleges shifting to online mode during COVID messed up the EdTech space ?

It is generally considered as when you join FAANG you are a software developer, with tags such as SDE I or II or III. But I've heard very little about analysts/data engineers/data scientists in these companies. I am a B.Tech final year student and I'll be joining a Data Analysis startup firm in June this year. So I wanted to know about my future opportunities in FAANG companies, I want  to know if the salaries offered by these companies for such roles are similar to the Developer role and firstly do they provide opportunities for students coming from a background like mine?

It would be revolutionary, if you guys could come up with a way to verify the salaries.

Otherwise it's just adding more noise to the already existing junk data.

Here are my rules:

1. Forget about starting a startup. It’s overrated and a waste of time.

2. Focus only on the popular tech skills that every company wants today. Avoid niche tech— stick to AWS, JS, Python, and React. You will thank me for this. Go and Rust might be the future but you will have time to pick that up later.

3. Accept a full-time remote job, even if it pays lesser than your in office job. You'll save money, and it’ll be worth it.

4. Ditch the big cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi. Move to a smaller town nearby; it's smarter and cheaper. You can still network yet save money.

5. Leave any job that requires too much work or too many meetings. Meetings are the mind-killer. You’ll quickly find another job because you specialized.

6. Take two-month vacations between jobs or contracts. You deserve it. It will help you decide what you want to do next in life.

7. Do this for 7 years while investing most of your salary in a diversified portfolio. Don’t go too crazy with degen gambling/ fantasy apps/ futures and options/ trading etc.

Congratulations. You’re now rich like any other senior programmer that invested, but you’ve worked less, and for fewer years.

The only thing I'd add is to use stop loss everywhere with investments and review them monthly, quarterly and annually.

India is run by MSMEs and if India has to become a $5/10trillion economy, it will be driven by a growth in MSMEs.
Now, none of us want to be part of these MSMEs (lala companies) as an employee due to number of reasons but would the stance change if you come in as a partner.

Benefit for MSMEs:
1. Get an experienced working professional who brings his network (to hire further folks) 
2. The professional brings in experience of a large organisation 
3. The professional invests his money to prove skin in the game.

Benefits for professionals:
1. Not everyone wants to become a billionaire and hence running / building a 100-500Cr ARR business is lucrative option.
2. Access to a launchpad of a profitable business with infrastructure already existing.
