How are releiving letters different from when the company fires you after PIP or you resign ?

Basically the title. If the company terminates the offer, vs if I resign on my own. How do the letters different usually.

I know one company that had a bit of a difference. They don't put the line "We wish him the best for his/her future endeavors" in the experience letter of terminated employees, but do put that line in letters of resignation cases.

Basically as a passive-aggressive way to signal that they weren't happy with the employee to their future employers. Seems a bit petty to me though. 🫤

Why don’t you active aggressively name the company?

Companies avoid terminating as there is a list of compliance they need to follow in case of termination. That is the only reason they ask employees to resign even after PIP. If you are still worried, resign on the last day of PIP.

Apart from the psychological effect, there is no difference in the long term. You just need to handle the "why are you leaving" question in the next interview and hope nothing comes up in the background verification.

So Flipkart will be doing performance based layoffs. I have been placed on PIP. How should I proceed considering I don't have any other offers and not much experience either.

  1. Resign immediately.
  2. Do the PIP completely and then see ...
