How do you deal when your team under-delivers?
Had been rescheduling an important demo for a while, because my backend team specifically kept taking longer and longer. In the end, 10 minutes before the demo my team told me they’re not going to be able to load new data and if I could do the demo with old data (which was wrong and hence the need for new data) I’ve already asked my backend lead to escalate non performers, but he doesn’t want to follow the company procedures.
This is always a slow process. Likely things will only change if someone from the top puts pressure on your BE lead.
Took me a year to build enough pressure on my Engineering VP to restructure the team and crack down on low performers.
Align as senior product, business and engineering managers as possible on your concern. They'll have to steadily keep the pressure on for months.

Just update the demo audience with the issue and get a next commitment publicly in email to ensure the team delivers
