Ya this has been going on for some time now. Already restructuring/layoff has happened, just see older news. Anyway, I doubt government will allow it to fail. So should be ok. Even though there’s a lot of outcry and today is pretty hard hitting news all around. I have now grown thick skin to all this.

My friend has joined a new company in recent months and have now figured out that he’ll be mostly working in legacy technology, support customer ticket issues, and become the point of contact for a product which is again legacy. There is basically no incentive for him to continue or add on to his growth/learning. Since market is really bad, he is trying to hang around for at least a year although painful. What do u guys suggest should he do?

I have been working in this startup for around 1.5 years now, and soon I am going to be the only developer here, as the other 2 devs are going to leave soon.
The company is now calling me to Bangalore.
I am thinking as there will be no devs my growth will be very less, as this is my first organisation after graduation.
But looking at the market situation it feels like I should just continue with the current org.
I am not sure what to do.

One of my close friends is not liking the work in the current company due to the terrible WLB. He is planning to switch to a new company but doesn't want to show this current company experience of 3+ months. Have you ever come across such a situation? What's the best thing to do? If he reveals to the new employer then it won't be good on his resume because the company previous to the current one laid off 50% of employees and unfortunately he got affected too in that layoffs. So, due to tough market conditions he has joined a startup and realised that he can't sustain here for long.

Please guide if it's alright not to put the last 3 months experience in the resume and apply for new jobs.

I graduated in 22 and it’s been a year since I joined my first company. Considering the current market situation, switching the company doesn’t seem to be an easy task. I got the opportunities to work on 5 projects in this company and unarguably learned a lot. But now they have put me in the support project saying that they don’t have projects. Wouldn’t lie they laid off approx 1k employees, I and few others are the only saved ones. Would it be a good idea if I stay in this company for one more year while slowly preparing for the switch utilising the amount of time I’d get being in this support project or rush myself to change the company?

Seeking Advise !!!

I’m currently working in a support project and whatever I heard from my seniors and fellow guys at work is that nobody stays with this client and company for more than a year or two. I joined here as a fresher with some really good dev skills but the work and tech here is not allowing me to put them to use. I’m feeling like quitting from here, but again need to brush up my skills as I did not put them to use over a period of 14 months. Also there is a lot of micromanagement going on and I’m not comfortable with that. No one takes ownership of work and tries to push it to you and make you work on it.

How to get out of support projects?

My friend who has less than a year of experience, has been searching for jobs for almost a year now. And the market has been, as from my observation, favorable to those with atleast 1.5 YoE. So, he's only got 1-2 interview opportunities till now.

Today, idk what amazing luck shined on him, he got an opportunity to interview at a pretty good company. But since he's kinda nervous about loosing this opportunity if they are expecting more for a junior role, he's thinking of approaching the interviewer on LinkedIn or somewhere and request them to not got hard and keep it simple as he's really in need of this job to take care of his financial crisis as the only breadwinner in the family. 

But I felt that it might backfire if the interviewer fails to understand and goes chaos. He's asking me whether to do it or not. I don't really have any experience in this. So, I'm asking you all amazing folks here. What should he do ?

I have been working with Infosys for past 5years(total exp) and my current salary is 20LPA CTC. I work on Apple projects and the work has become repetitive over the last three years, primarily focusing on Java, Spring, Microservices, and Elasticsearch. I really want to join a product company now, for better compensation and more engaging work, but I’m uncertain how to proceed. 
I’ve just been writing APIs and scheduled jobs, and at this point I think I know nothing beyond it. The thought of facing the interview processes of tech giants for senior roles is daunting.  
Where should I start from? How do I regain my competence?

I am working atleast 12 hours daily for the past couple of months and now i feel this is taking a toll on my mental health. Increment was pathetic variable is slashed and I don’t see any light at the end of this tunnel. What should i do in such a situation.

Any suggestions please. The fact that things have gotten so bad that i am now contemplating a change in career. IT sector seems good from outside with all the money and stuff but from inside its a dark dark place.

I need some suggestions what should i do? Should i leave or continue to work hoping that things might get better after a certain point of time?

Hey all,

I could really use some advice here. I'm a software developer working in a small service-based company, and I've been here for 1.5 years. My initial contract is ending this month, and now I have to decide whether to sign another bond to stay for another year.

Here's the thing: I don't want to sign the bond. I feel like it's time to explore new opportunities, but I'm also worried about the job market. I currently don't have any offers on hand.

For context, I'm working in Surat and I'm open to opportunities in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, and Coimbatore. My current CTC is 2.5 LPA, and if I stay, I'll get a bump to 3.8 LPA.

Should I take the risk and start applying to new jobs, or should I play it safe and stick around for another year? How hard is it to get a job in those cities right now? Any advice or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

[Advice Needed] Stuck in a Dilemma: Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Would like to know about learning at Thoughtworks and the company in general. They had layoffs last year and don't seem to be performing great financially based on TrueUp.

Hi all, It’s been more than 4 years in TCS. I have been trying to switch for last 6 months. Received some calls from HRs but as soon as they hear TCS and NOT ON NOTICE PERIOD, their response immediately changes. They will tell you that they will share interview details but they won’t.
I have also tried lying about notice period with different different excuse but still they would not believe it.
Now i am thinking about putting in my papers and continue looking. Maybe reducing the notice period will help but it looks a big risk in current scenario.

What should i do?

Hello folks, I am working with a startup (now acquired by a big fintech) as FTE for 1.5 years now (Full stack dev) , my TC is 18 LPA (14.4 Fixed + Variable) in a permanent wfh model.

The reason I want to switch is that my tech team is very small (4 people) and there is no senior person in my team from whom I can learn something, thus my learning has become stagnant technical wise.

Should I try and switch company or stay in the same for more time, considering the current market scenario?

PS: I am a 2022 graduate.

Well, I see no point in continuing my current job - it’s off no value add. There are few opportunities for BD or anything else. While it has been <6 months in the org, I will have to continue this for the foreseeable future. I am planning to go for my Master’s in FY25. Ideally, I wanted to work my current job for a year at least - but it’s pointless (have sought manager’s opinion and other colleagues thoughts too). So, in the short term, I have concluded it doesn’t make sense to wait further (given the timeline). 

Plus managing GRE prep with a demanding job while possible seems very tricky especially from a quality standpoint.

Problem: If I quit after working for just 6 months, justifying that on my profile seems tricky (while possible). 

Question; What bearing will this move have if I make it? And what kind  of implications if any could it have on my Masters application? 

Any advice on navigating this would be much appreciated.

I have been at a company since 2.6 yrs as a founding engineer (joined here as a fresher). I am a graduate from IIT Delhi. I am paid well (50 LPA cash + decent stocks). The work culture of where I am is pretty amazing (5-6 hrs work, 5 days a week), WFH. 
Since I joined when the company was growing, I am  well respected. I would also go in length to say that  I don't expect the culture to be this good anywhere else. However it has been pretty boring lately, the work is very monotonous ( I am a backend engineer with pretty decent technical skills). I think I have little opportunity to grow here. 
What should I do ? 

PS: I got interview calls from various startups but most of them are just matching my salary but after doing some research I see that they are demanding lots of work (12 hrs, sometimes weekends included)

I am 2022 passout 24 yr old.I have joined one service based startup after college for 6.2 Lakh.But Out of 10 months I was on the bench for 8 months so in that period I have prepared for interview and Got the offer of 17 LPA.Its been 8 months in this job , But from last 2-3 months my growth is stagnant and I got bored as their is not much work as well.So should I go for another switch or wait ?
