I am 34 and tired of this fast paced life. Since last year extreme stress and hair loss (baldness). Had family and office problems. 
Thinking of going back to my hometown with less salary. But we have less opportunity at home town.

I work in remote based startup of Bangalore. And I live with my wife and infant in some tier 2 City. And my parents live in my hometown. I don't want to shift to my hometown as it doesn't have basic facilities available and I don't like being there as I get bored. My parents didn't want to leave hometown. And they continuously tells me yaha kyu nhi rehte. What should I do?

I am senior dev with 10+ yrs of experience. I am working remotely for last 3 yrs. I want to move to my hometown which is tier 3 city. The main purpose of moving is because my daughter can have company of my parents, saving money and slow pace life.

The infra, schools and hospitals here are better then what i get in my area in Pune

Has anyone moved to tier 3 cities in case of remote job? How has been experience so far?

My only fomo is that what in the future i need to switch, will i be able to find the remote job easily? How hard it is to find the remote job?

Iam a product designer and front-end developer plus a no code developer.  I have 1.7 yrs experience.  I don't have a big package ,6 lac plus 4 lac I make via freelance. Iam not in a big metro city . My expense are all around  6 k a month. 

My gf is a junior scientist  working for us base company which makes batteries for electric vehicles.she has package of 8 lac. And she is working near my home town. We both are based from kochi kerala. 
She has approsal every 3 months .and have lot of opportunities  to travel outside India attend conference. And it is a rare opportunity.  

Now we are planning to get married.  But I don't want her to leave her Job because she had   learned  so much  and finally she  got this job .

The problem is ill have to move to kochi ,there the packages  are not that great. I'll have to settle for less below 10lac.

From some mentors I talked they say I would get around 16 lac easily. The only reason I never bothered jumping was I was very comfortable  in my job and and my total income was also good.

But now iam thinking what should I do.
Since she has to be offline work  from home is not option.  I'll have to move . I'll be near my home and parents . 

But I will have a lame packge . 

What should I do.im confused 😕

I have been given promotion to SDE 2 without any salary hike. I recently got laid off and I feel like I am not eligible for SDE 2 interviews. I can clear dsa rounds but suck in design rounds.  I got a job with same salary at a service based company and I am thinking to join and then prepare to be better at design. is it a good decision? should I join it?

Currently I am working remotely (work from home) but due to no hikes or promotion I think I need to switch and now a days very less or none companies offering work from home..Evey company either 5 days a week or following hybrid model...

I got a remote job and planning to shift to tier 4 city. Major reason is to be with family and have slow pace life. The small town has good enough infrastructure including good internet and road connectivity.

Do you think it would be a good idea in short term or long term? I am planning to continue remote job only until the day comes where i wont be able to find remote job.

Is it good to shift to tier 3-4 city in case of remote job?

How's the current job market like according to you guys? More specifically in Bangalore. I recently got an offer from an upcoming digital commerce player. They're giving a 35% pay hike and the role is decent. I don't love it , I don't hate it either. My only issue is it's based out of Delhi, a city I'm not a big fan of. To give more context I've been born and raised in Delhi but I've been living away from home for 8 years now. It's a city thats familiar but comes with its down baggage. I find the people too aggressive and don't have much of a circle left there. Got laid off from the Bangalore startup I was working at some 3 months back. I have a decent runway but frankly it's not making too much sense to keep paying rent in Bangalore anymore. I keep oscillating between taking this offer and letting it go. Thoughts?

So bit of context here. I am a 25 year old Male. Moved to bangalore after 2 years of wfh. Stayed there for a year. Got fed up of my job and toxic workplace tendencies so wanted to resign. Dad had been doing a startup for a bit and he felt I was ready to be useful so he asked me to come. I felt it would good for my career so I moved back. 6 months in I feel mentally drained, and all my limited excitement I feel in life are for the small trips I manage to do where I meet some of my college friends/girlfriend. I had read takes online from people that if I had a chance I would leave everything and be at home with parents, but I just dont feel this way. I love my parents a lot but I just dont feel too much anymore. I dont feel like oh I am so lucky I get to spend so much time with my mother. All of my childhood friends from my city have moved to the US. I have 2 friends(not very close but decent) who I meet sometimes, so life is all about waking up, going to office, coming home and calling my long distance girlfriend (who was with me in Bangalore) and falling asleep with 2/3 hours here and there. I rarely have plans. I feel like I am doing something wrong but I cant pinpoint what. How can I passionately want to spend more time with my parents? I just don’t get it from within. Do I really have to work and find new close friends in the city. People at work keep a bit of distance because my dad is the founder. Anyone with any advice?

3. Staying away from parents sucks as they need us more now.

5. Less friends, even if you have more friends you don't want to express what you are going through. 
6. No emergency fund- Agar koi emergency ayi to dosto ko paise mangne padenge.
7. Job switch - As the market is unstable, so you're afraid to switch and get laid off.
8. You want everyone around you to be happy, as your happiness depends on their happiness. 
9. Unable to express what you are going through to people around you (wife, parents, friends, relatives etc)
10. Happy Wife Happy Life - You try to do things out of the box (which is beyond your reach) because it makes her happy.

I’m from Tier 3 city, software engineer, 7 YoE. I work with great team member and they really love their work but I’m not that passionate. I take ownership of my work but don’t feel like I belong here. I’m not good in coding and SDET by profession. I didn’t save enough money in my first 3 years of career, switched back to back from 2020 onwards and recently moved out of India and now I think I have enough money. I always wanted to settle in my native place, Prayagraj in UP unlike my colleagues and most of my friends who enjoy to be in metro city. I somehow feel I have very less needs and if I shift to Tier 3 city, I’d have less expenses and I don’t have to buy houses as I already have home. At the same time, I feel may be I feel FOMO 5-10 years down the line I left good job, lifestyle.
Additionally, I’m looking to get married, none of IT sector girls want to live in Tier 3 and rightly so as they put so much effort so they want to live/settle in metros mostly.
8 years back I took GRE, put all efforts to do MS from US. 2 years back, I got this opportunity to live that life but I feel I don’t enjoy hustle culture/ city lights. Don’t like cafe hopping or anything. I feel at peace when I visit my hometown, my paternal/maternal houses, Varanasi Ghats. 
I have 1.3 Cr INR but given I’m just 30. As per Finfluencer or by  my sane calculation, this is not sufficient. Post marriage, this is certainly not enough. Should I take a break and assess or just keep pushing myself to earn more and then go for FIRE.

So I wanted to know what kind of things you do  or personality you have after your working hours. Basically you could list down your hobbies or maybe skills you are trying to learn or anything else. Looking forward to some out of the box responses

I'll go first, so I am currently focusing on my fitness, going to the gym and trying to correct my routine to wake up early. Also wanting to learn a musical instrument like a harmonica or a flute but still procrastinating on that one😂.

Coming from tier-2/3 towns, how do you manage to live away from home for full time in-office roles. 

Most of the people have decent set of responsibilities back at home ranging from parents healthcare to various documentations (like property management, bank-work etc). Becomes more important if you’re the only child.

Would like to know if there are any tools/services to manage this. How often do you guys travel back except for holidays?

I'm a 28-year-old married (Wife is also working) individual currently residing in Kolkata, where the living expenses are relatively low. I have 5 years of work experience, and my current compensation package is 28 lakhs fixed and 3 lakhs variable (approximately 1.95 lakhs in-hand salary after deductions). With no liabilities or responsibilities, my monthly expenses are around 40,000 INR, and I manage to invest around 1.5 lakhs per month.

Currently, I enjoy a stable job and live with my parents, who take care of most of my living expenses. However, I'm considering the possibility of switching jobs and moving to another city, which would require me to bear the additional costs of rent, food, and other living expenses on my own.

Question: Given my current financial situation and the potential for increased living costs in a new city, should I explore a job switch and relocation? Or should I continue with my current stable job and living arrangement in Kolkata, where my expenses are minimal? What factors should I consider when making this decision?

Currently working in a Fintech company in Mumbai as a Frontend Engineer with over a year of experience. The current CTC is 7 LPA. 

I feel like the growth here is limited and from the past few months there's been a lot of micro-management. Even the CTC is not up to Mumbai's expense standard. I live in a soapbox and pay like 1/5 th of monthly salary. Standard of living has been decreasing while it should be opposite.

+ I've 6 days work week with 9 hours /day shift. Although I've decided to drop in papers soon, I'd like to hear your opinions. 

Brownie points if you refer me to some good early stage startup probably in BLR or Pune or Remote.

21M working from home as a SDE. I do live with my parents in a tier 3 city. Most of my time is just spent working on my desk. This is just depressing as I don't have many friends to hangout and even those I have are busy in their own life. I make good and can easily afford to go and live in a tier 1 city but will that be a good option leaving my parents and knowing most of my time would be spent indoors.
