Idea Check : Food Delivery

I know nobody does this but just wanna check the viability of this. Is it possible to club few restaurants together in a single order when restaurants are situated very close to each other. Like if I wanna have icecream from Naturals and something else from restaurant just near naturals, since current food delivery providers don’t do this.

I read this case study about the exact part you mentioned.

Personally, I don't think it is a viable business. The costs would be too high, and creating a niche product would be incompetent against giants like Swiggy.

Yes this is actually what I thought of. Thanks for sharing the deck 🫶

There's a company called EatSure that already does this. I think they target food courts in shopping malls, because the restaurants are as close as can be. The delivery times weren't great when I ordered from them. But weather it was because they have fewer delivery partners or weather trying to get delivery from a mall is a pain ( hard to find parking right outside, parking in the basement park is chargeable ) then the delivery partner has to go up to the top floor of the mall, try to get the food ( among the rush especially during the weekends). You could work on clustering nearby restaurants together and allow orders from them, but it's just not that viable and you'll just be burning money trying to take market share from swiggy and Zomato.

Move over food delivery. Do drone delivery etc

Eatsure does this to an extent . Like they have cloud kitchen at same place for Behrouz Biryani, Wendys and couple of others.

I think what may work out is if u have a tieup with a mall where there are multiple outlets at same place.

I think this is already happening to some extent. One platform I was ordering from was charging 25 for normal delivery and 10 for delayed delivery since they will combine orders from nearby restaurants / to nearby drop points which would cause a delay

No you got me wrong, I am the only ordering from multiple restaurants rather than just 1. I am not combining my delivery with someone else. Let’s say Main Course from Udupi and Desert from nearby Icecream store

Bad idea... CaC is huge and LTV will be poor as customers like these are negligible

For the folks who complain about charges by Swiggy/Zomato etc

Now imagine, we did not have Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto, Dunzo (its pretty much there) What would your next bet be? Well

  1. You have some of your local grocery stores who would deliver for you, but it might take a bit of time 1-2...

Swiggy charges 260 for a food item that is 120 in that store's menu 75 for 2 parotta which is 24 rupees in store.

all this before platform fees, delivery fees.

Downfall has begun.
