I'm lost , I need advice please!

Hi all , I'm a CS graduate of 2023 in a t3 college. I have done my internship in a startup company which closed in just 2 months . I had worked really hard and had completed multiple courses in MERN stack for a year in 2022 . Now there are virtually no companies hiring a MERN stack engineer. All the in campus placement of my college are mass hirers and non core CS companies. I was always intrested in theatre which I did effortlessly. I could do two things now .

  1. Choose to find a job in some 3-5 lpa job and have wet dreams about joing maang one day
  2. Choose to patiently grow in film industry. Which of them would be worth it. I appreciate the rudest words.be blunt .

Why're you fixed on MERN? Companies usually want Software Engineers not someone with specific skills.

Also, if you can afford to not earn as of now, you can continue with your passion.

Regarding mass hiring companies or FAANG, having a 3-5 LPA job has better prospect in landing you a MAANG role.

You can try directly reaching out to the founding team of early stage startups. This may help you in getting some interviews.

Thank you for the advice. I'm pretty proficient lets say intermediate in python. I have affinity towards MERN because I watched a lot of youtubers inflating MERN stack . What would be good to do?what would I do to get better ? I'm a 4star in hackerrank (ik it doesn't matter + most of them were copied)

Sir if you are comfortable in answering your package and did it work out it would be helpfull too because none of my seniors in its 20 year history have placed in maang or as such except some 2-3 PPL who did higher studies.most of them are stuck at mass hirers or found alternative paths.

Your options 1 or 2, just depends on your own background, as to how much luxury you have, to remain a jobless non-earning guy. If your family is supportive enough, won’t pressurise you, won’t taunt you about lack of job- then sure, go chase your dreams- dedicate 3-4 yrs of your life to acting/drama field. But if you think your parents won’t support, then it is a very tough call. Then you need to ask yourself, how strong you are, can you earn and learn acting parallely, or can you take that risk of taking some loan, and going for acting…. So it is all upto you. Talking of IT. It is irritating to see freshers flaunting MERN, full stack, AI/ML etc specialisation. It looks all the College authorities have completely taken students for a ride, brainwashing them to squeeze money out of them, or to befool them for some purpose. You don’t need any such specialisation. You need good logic forming ability, knowledge of any one programming language, and basic knowledge of database, that’s it. And many folks from Tier 3 Colleges, break into MAANG companies, through via various means. I have one College batchmate in Google, one ex-colleague-cum-roomMate in Microsoft, one batchmate in Microsoft, another batchmate in Apple, one batchmate in Salesforce and so on… Needless to say, they are all like me, of same talent level, same College category. Best wishes.
