- The Japanese operator of 7-Eleven has received a takeover approach from Canadian retailer Alimentation Couche-Tard, which controls the Circle K brand.
- This approach follows over a year of on-off talks and is the largest-ever foreign-led takeover attempt targeting a Japanese company.
- Seven & i’s shares surged 23% on Monday, raising its market capitalization to $39 billion.
- Seven & i has set up a special committee to examine Couche-Tard’s proposal, which seeks to acquire all outstanding shares.
- The move could attract other bidders, including private equity groups, and follows recent changes in Japan’s M&A guidelines encouraging serious consideration of bona fide offers.

Always had a fascination for flying objects as a kid. 

If this held true, I would really love to work in the aerospace domain. Building insane drones or UAVs would be awesome, especially after a decent stint in software.

Was reading about this company called Zipline which works in autonomous aerial delivery. Quite insane how they supply medical supplies in Rwanda using gliding drones that are launched across the country.

Stories like these inspire an entire generation to take up engineering and change the world.

Received an inbound request for Principal PM role with PayPay in Tokyo. Has anyone here in India  interviewed with PayPay for any roles. 


Have generally heard Japanese to be very hardworking. 
They mention you don't need English for your day to day job, but for life outside work English will be of limited use.
Also racism is another fear in these Other Asian economies 
They haven't shared the  potential compensation ranges yet . Couldn't find much online too.

Having a good life in Bangalore currently working for MNC.

Current CTC:  100L+ with 11L YoE
Is there a great financial upside with this role?

Is it worth considering?? Any recommendations from Grapeviners?

I am currently an SDE3 working in Japan, in the past 6 months I have moved from SDE1 to 3. I am planning on moving back to India in the next year, can someone list their job roles as an SDE2 or SDE3. I personally think that there is a big gap of skills between the engineers working in these 2 countries (Indian engineers are better in terms of skills whereas Japanese are really organised). So I want to know where I lack so that I can prepare accordingly.
