Think in terms of technical complexity. It would be an expensive problem to solve. First they need to increase user engagement.

What technical complexities? There are many casual apps on app store that have similar features. Am I missing anything? I feel this will help boost engagement much like clubhouse and x spaces.

You can't have N number of features when  your main feature doesn't have high engagement. Each feature comes with tech debt. And features like voice call only gonna increase that. Initially what going on is correct they just need to find a way to increase traction on posts.

I could solve general problems from arrays, trees, sorting and all. I would fail miserably when the interview goes in the direction of DP problems. After a point I realised it actually doesn’t matter, you will find enough places where you are valued for your skills. 

Been a person who was on the both sides of the table, more on the side taking interviews. I realised one thing how many of us end up writing those fancy TSP code or backtracking etc day in day out. Almost most of the code we write is in some form a version of CRUD and its a reality.
Someone getting hired in google is not going to be assigned to improve their search algorithm. I know a lot of ppl who joined and left google because they were not getting to work on meaningful stuff. 

I ask real life programming stuff and I try to judge based on that, I want to see given a real scenario how the candidate thinks rather then knowing how good the person is in solving some DP problem.

Some ppl can write real good code without realising that they are actually using the best practices and design patterns and not remembering the patterns name, it sometimes just comes naturally

I really liked the concept. It has best of both worlds. Easiest way to create content is audio, and consume is text.

However, I think it will suffer because it might not promote controversial stuff or negative comments.

Humans have a negativity bias. Name-calling, insults or blind hate, are things that no one likes - but also things that no one can look away from. And those engaged in it can't easily pull away. 

One of the reasons why Grapevine is so good because in an anonymous forum, people might be less likely to step in and stop negative behavior. People either promote propaganda of one company or to spread shit about other companies.


Even X is infamous for rewarding conflict. Most negative comments come from anon folks. elafda get the best engagement.  


The audio first social media app Airchat has a second order effect that people can write way more mean shit than say it aloud. Plus it's not natively anon. 

I really wish it does work, in a world where there's so much negativity, we need airchat to thrive.

@grapevine i guess there is some issue in messaging. If i send msg to someone i get notification and on checking that its my msg which i send it. I guess its emitting rather than broadcast.

So I’m not sure if there are any particular strategies but what I do on Blind is changing usernames.

Now that works on Blind because it doesn’t show the new username on comments and posts made before the change.

However Grapevine is updating my username in old comments as well.

What is Grapevine?

Id love to see Grapevine create a catalogue of Grapevine approved verified anonymous accounts of detailed employee accounts of how good or terrible a company is. Think The Ken but filled with employee reports. But the style of writing leaning on the casual office gossip side. And the content saved in an archive and searchable. The biggest problem of course would be getting people to verify their identity to a Grapevine mod or writer may be tough.
Me personally, I’d love to talk to some writer about my experience at my previous businesses. So many scoops and insane stories!

(I dislike Glassdoor for the HRs infiltrating and BSing everyone)

Explained Grapevine to friend, now they think I am weird
I talked about everything from professional posts to emotional ones to layoffs to rants to salaries to grapes
They weren’t convinced, to put it subtly

I introduced well, but the conversation just veered off

Anyone else have a slightly awkward Grapevine conversation story than me?

I’ll go first.

To me, it’s all about access. 
Access to authentic ideas.

The best search result you get on Google is high SEO but low authenticity. On LinkedIn, there are so many people but everyone is shilling a course or 1:1 resume reviews. 

Mostly it has become a place which started as vanity signalling 

Like
( I have started a new role…, I have been accepted at …, I have received offers from F, A, N and G and I’m joining G.)  

And now people pushing mindless content with “Agree?” or “Comment Interested”.

Somehow, everyone is truly inauthentic to please a wider audience and say the exact same generic gyaan to maximise engagement.

For now, Grapevine is where people are genuinely themselves and I get to hear interesting things that you get to hear near the coffee machine.

Kinda feels like we’re all a big community where we all contribute and learn new things about the professional landscape around us.
