Why is it considered vulgar to talk about money in India? What implications does it have for corporate culture?

New India talks and brags openly about salaries on Grapevine.
But that is done anonymously and in private only.
I think OP means talking about it openly and sharing in public - pay transparency basically.
Outside of the company is rampant...blatant...audacious...
Within the company, it's best not spoken or discussed. Just my view.
Idk what India you're talking about man, I wfh and every aunt and uncle ask me about my salary as the very second question after asking my company name. The salary hiding thing is more prevalent in corporates maybe. Also, this salary and money no-no talk culture is more prevalent in the west. In Germany (and maybe Europe in general) people consider it rude when asked about salary.
