Startup 1: 28 fixed 2 jb 2 retention 2lakh esops vested over 2 years Location: gurgaon, wfo
Startup 2: 28 fixed 2 retention 7.5 lakh esops vested over 4 years Location: Bangalore, wfh initially, wfo after few months
Very unsure about which one to choose, the offers look very similar to me. Startup 1 has a probation of 3 months as well. Current TC: 23
Don't decide based on these numbers, but based on the team, company culture, scope for growth, quality of work, etc.
So that is a bit interesting but confusing yet again,
Startup 1:
funding 2.5 M dollars
But their tech team is mostly interns and junior engineers and they want me to come in as SDE2 and start leading projects, which sounds a bit scary tbh, as their expectations are very high but at the same time it's challenging
Their product is in d2c space and profitability is very far but revenue numbers are good
Startup 2:
Funding 1.5 M
They have a better early stage tech team and their product is a b2b saas product with global target market
Both have their own challenges and opportunities, neither has any significant advantage over the other at this stage Both have their founders from IIT Bombay
If you're early in you career, having seniors will definitely help you to evolve in the right direction.
Also, do look at the remaining factors as well.
I have interviewed at such startups where the main tech stack was written by very junior devs. The main issue with such startups is not the tech if you're more concerned about money because if your product skills are to the point, you'll get another good job after this company as well but the issue that I found was that I joined one such company even when I was not convinced about their product. You need to ask their upper management before joining the conviction behind the product. I had once joined such kind of crypto company which eventually failed but you need to see if they have already found pmf if not then the journey can be a bit tough
Thanks that's a good point, I'll ask the founders about this although I do have a bit of an idea.
Please for your future sake, try getting more info on the team, how's the work. Ask your potential team mates about the manager. Try looking out for red flags.
Both are early stage companies, I'll be working directly under CTO in both the cases, so those questions are a bit hard for them to answer. Although both have few warning signs, Like, In startup 1 their backend team is mostly junior engineers and CTO, there isn't any lead, EM etc. And in startup 2 they have never had an external hire before all of them are founding team members, but they do have a couple of senior folks.
Considering I'm currently working in a unicorn it'll be a big jump culture wise either way.

Hi Grapeviners,
I have an exp of exactly 2 years and i received an offer from a startup for analyst (level 1) at a cash component of ~ 20L (includes 10 % variable) and ESOP worth 3 L. My current company had an all fixed comp at 15 LPA...
I received 2 offers recently, for context I'm graduating this year-
1 - a PPO for an early stage startup I have been interning for. TC - 10 base + share of revenue generated. Essentially it is a founders office role, but will be closing...
