Are you someone who can accept compliments without being awkward?

I'm fairly new to this platform, but in last week I have seen posts appreciating men and celebrating women

The posts have comments from men demeaning their own.
I don't understand why. Who taught us to be like that?

I am a man, I have vulnerable self doubt thoughts, but I would never put down another human (any gender)

Is it something common on this platform?

[Controversial] Why are men getting hurt by men and women alike?

I feel that when you open up to people about your traumas and insecurities, people are only going to use it against you in an arguement.

While you might argue that not everyone does that, and I would be the first one to agree to that. But you somehow stop trusting everyone, even your shadow , when your favorite people become your most bitter life lessons. 

The one who feels emotions always ends up suffering more. In the hindsight, it feels as if being a bare minimum "good human" is a curse. 

However,

I have been using grapevine to vent out and connect with strangers and so far I have only met supportive and empathetic human beings (most of them). 

Despite being covered in the sheild of anonymity, most people have only been respectful and kind. 

This proves that we, as humans , are only meant to love each other. Hatred is futile. Empathy is inherent while hatred is "cultivated".

I hope grapevine founders dont stumble across this post else theyll start charging premium fees when they realize how highly people speak of this platform lol

My take: It should sound modest and respectful given that its a work environment. But you never know when she might get triggered.

Why do female founders and other budding LinkedIn female influencers post their personal pictures(gym photos, selfies, random photos of themselves) on LinkedIn? It’s a professional platform for fucks sake. 

You don’t post these photos on Leap Club but LinkedIn is okay because validation. 

And nobody calls them out. Men are lost in simp behaviour and others ignore them.

There exists a 30:40:30 split where the scale indicates low to intense ambiguity of outcomes. 
It is also understood that the same is correlated deeply with the compensation that these folks earn, with the exception of top 10%ers within each job function who earn great regardless.


1. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝟯𝟬%:

About 20-30% of white collar jobs are absolutely menial that relies purely on a human in the loop model, where the role of an individual is limited to point and click on a screen. Jobs like this could be something along the lines of compliance, inventory tracking, etc. where approving a certain decision relies on a human. 

These jobs are among the most susceptible to automation, even without advanced Machine Learning. Perhaps, it's a matter of trust. People prefer human accountability over machines when it comes to decision-making, due to an intrinsic trust in humans over machines.

𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝟰𝟬%:

Around 40% of jobs fall into a middle ground: they involve interaction, file management, and value creation but remain somewhat detached from core decision-making. These roles are often found in Big4, WITCH, large MNCs, and marketing/advertising sectors, representing a standard job that offers a decent income and work-life balance, though the level of fulfilment can be debated. 

Typically, those in this category have moderate personal ambitions or high ambition with a low risk appetite. 

𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝟯𝟬%:

This is inclusive of folks who are either:
        A. Work on the cutting edge in their respective fields.
        B. Run enterprises.
        C. Work in well run companies and took exceptional risk

Almost exclusively they work/studied in STEM related fields and coupled it with smart risk taking. It also consists of folks who thrive in ambiguity and have the intellectual horsepower to drive outcomes in uncertain environments.

I posit that our positioning within this tier-list determines our outlook towards life and work.

During a trip to Thailand, me and a colleague accidentally swapped bags. When I called to explain the mistake, his wife accused me of trying to seduce her husband. She harassed me with phone calls, and later threw eggs at my residence. Then, set her husband's bag on fire and got into trouble with the police. She was then arrested.

I would also like to address those who said that the story is fake. It isn't. I genuinely posted this here because as a woman it is hard to find spaces online to vent my frustrations. I was genuinely distressed at the moment and my flatmates did take care of me. I also received tons of support from the community here and I am thankful for that.

Here's what happened next:
I decided not to press charges as I am living away from my family and I don't want this to be the reason they start interfering in my personal freedom. Over the weekend, she apologized and invited me for dinner, I obviously declined because she acted all insane before.

But she is literally so dramatic that she lied to everyone that I came to her house and hit her so hard that she puked all over her clothes. Thankfully, their society has CCTV coverage and I didn't even leave my home all weekend. So, no one believed her this time. 

Our group thankfully supported me throughout this and the colleague is no longer in the group. Now, I just want to get over this traumatic experience which when I look back at is too unreal to even think about.

I would say the Nash Equilibrium for me. 

Essentially, It is a stable state of a system where no participant can gain by a change of strategy as long as all the other participants remain unchanged.

Imagine if @BiryaniEnthu and @potatomato are captured by Grapevine. They are taken into two different rooms and given an option to confess or deny that they stole Grapes.

For @BiryaniEnthu, if p confesses then, best option is to confess else they will get punished for 10 days.
For @BiryaniEnthu, if p denies then, best option is to confess because they will get punished for 1 day only.

Same applies for @potatomato, their best option is to confess too because of symmetry in the matrix.

But did you notice one thing? When both confess, both will get 3 days punishment, which is the Nash Equilibrium state which is extremely stable as it covers downside risk.

However, the global maxima for both was when both will deny it, so that both get 2 day punishment but this is an unstable state because it relies on the assumption that the other person will deny, especially when the other person knows that confessing will lead to a better outcome.

Hence, there is a tension between individual rationality and group rationality. The Nash Equilibrium represents a situation where, despite the possibility of a better global outcome, the self-interest of each player leads them to a less optimal, but stable, outcome.

[Thread] What are some of your favourite learnings from Game Theory?

I joined AmEx Gurgaon in 2015 in PoS Fraud Strategy as a Business Analyst. I was having a rough time at AmEx as I really wanted to pursue my passion of Mathematics in the US. I had secured an admit at Univeristy of Illinois - Urbana Champaign and UT-Austin in their MS programme and was totally checked out at work.

During my tenure at AmEx, I was mostly bored. Looking at internal tools and spreadsheets was the worst. This coupled with the fact that I was travelling to and fro between Noida and Gurgaon meant that I was commuting a solid 4 hours everyday.

In this time of mental agony, I met this charismatic young woman, she was an Analyst in the Credit Underwriting Team. I don't know what got into me and I asked her out to coffee. We went to the Starbucks in CyberHub the next morning and she was the most delightful personality ever. Sweet and elegant, she talked of her passion with vigour, from her ideals to writing poems. I left that conversation feeling uneasy though. 

She reminded me of what I wanted but also of what I was scared to lose in her. 

We continued to date for the next 6 months in a hush-hush manner to avoid any suspicion at AmEx. I had to start the process of getting my F1-visa for the US and when I told her about it she was extremely disheartened.

In my heart, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my days with her and life without her was nothing but an empty void. She came with me to the US Consulate Office, and I don't know what got into me but I kissed her.

I knew that I wanted her more than anything else. 

Decided not to give the Visa Interview and applied to ISB with my GRE score. Got into it and ended up becoming a Management Consultant in MBB. 

We got married in 2019 and welcomed our daughter into this world in 2021. 

I wonder what life would've been living in the US. But whatever it would be, it couldn't be better than being in her arms when we come back from work. 

Have faith. Everything will turn out to be okay. Trust the process

One of my female friend recently got in touch with a young guy. Age difference is about 10-15 yrs. Both are currently single boy being about around ~25. Both re enjoying each other's company and conversations. While the girl has a troubled past (divorced) the boy is actively looking for marriage prospects. 
GV community - what are your tips for the female friend and things she should keep in consideration. 
Would be keen to hear the guys' perspective as well especially how you deal with relationship vs friendship with older women

I've been seeing a lotta posts where men are venting about not being able to find the right girl, so just wanted to know whether it's the same for women too

Here in Bangalore its hard to find a quality guy smh, (emphasis on quality). Dating apps are a dead end and even when you have organic “meet cutes” the men end up saying they want something casual and don't want to commit. 

How do you deal with this? Or rather, how do you distract yourself from these kinda feelings?

P.S:  don't come at me saying “its harder for men” - I'm sure it is lol I just want to know if there are women who also resonate with what I feel.
