PM Interview Assignment
I work as a PM in a startup and was very surprised to learn from my colleagues that PMs earn lesser than engineers, sometimes by even 30-40%!!
This typically happens a lot more in startups where pm function is overstaffed and badly defined. But since PM is a designation that's just thrown around now, its happening more and more.
Think about it, engineers are the ones who build the product at the end of the day. They will take a largest piece of the pie.
But a great PM will generally make an equal amount as an engineer eventually.
> Engineers are the ones who build the product at the end of the day
True for engineers who can craft product without proper specs.
Flawed conclusion for engineers without product sense. Being last one in the pipeline does not equal to higher pay. Loosely compare it to carpenters who give our home a finishing touch. Do they make most?
