Passion & purpose IMO make your life more than a collection of breaths. Older generations lived a life of friction & depravation so doing well in life & access resources for a comfortable life was a good purpose. 

Our lives today are convenient - you no longer stand in line for groceries/ pay bills etc, take 2 days to get to a destination or for shopping.

So what drives you? What's your passion/ purpose?

And no again IMO raising children can't be sole purpose of your life.

Ask any tech bro to work on Saturday and they will start crying about work life balance. FYI most professionals in India work on Saturdays. In India more than 90% folks are self employed. 

Lawyers, accountants, doctors, plumbers, carpenters, business owners all of them work on Saturdays. Your work life balance comes because you enjoy their services on Saturday and Sunday going around spending money and having fun. 

So not working on Saturday is a privilege and not a compulsion. 

On one side we are sad that companies lay us off and on the other side we want work life balance even at the cost of the growth. We despise anyone who creates wealth. 

Chal kya raha hai? Sabko startups mein bhi MNREGA scheme chahiye kya? Have some growth mindset folks. 

With so much work life balance you are just stuck in Manali traffic jam and Krishnagiri toll booth.

Hi everyone, I'm a B.Tech. graduate in Computer Science with 7+ years of experience in sales and operations leadership, looking to transition into a product management role (PM/APM).

I recently completed a PG certification in Product Management with a specialization in Product Growth, where I honed my skills through projects and assignments. My passion for building and growing products led me to pursue this certification during a career break.

In my previous role (3 years), I spearheaded teams, driving revenue, growth, product adoption, customer satisfaction, and churn reduction.

I'm eager to leverage my experience and newfound knowledge in product management. Any referrals or leads would be greatly appreciated!

Product Management newbie: Sales leader looking to learn!

So I am working at a startup for around a year now. Everyday I see, it feels, what am I really doing? Where is the life headed? 
    Doing bare minimum or doing your tasks and fucking off isn't enough. It's expected that we outgrow constantly, as if it's this work that we can always think about and nothing else. At the end, am wondering if it's still worth it?
    1 day it feels that let's just quit it! Next day I feel, okay, I do want the money. 

I ain't looking for suggestions here, just wanted to see if anyone else felt this way

Far too many people focus on needing xyz before starting up. Most of them are excuses and self-imposed roadblocks from what I've seen in my conversations with people.

I'm currently working on 2 ventures that still have many items missing from this list. Doesn't really stop me from making revenue and profit.

Sure, there may be some things required from this list for specific businesses and at diff stages. But they are mostly an extra, good to have but not required.

What is required in copious amounts is courage and will power, willingness to face rejections and ability to withstand multiple failures only to get back up and try again. Also, a healthy enough risk appetite.

I hope to see more young and talented folks (especially MBA grads) start their own thing some day. Best time is in your twenties and early thirties, when you have little to lose.

While I 100% agree that a PM at a company like Juspay that sells technical products needs to have good technical proficiency to the extent of understanding code as well, why are there no EMs? In a company that's as engineering driven as Juspay, it is all the more important to have EMs who bring in valuable 8+ years of industry experience and have the know how of guiding engineers on building reliable scalable systems and logic. I learnt that Juspay expects PMs to do it all. 
Questions to Juspay PMs : Do you conduct sprint planning meetings? Are you responsible for the Engg team's performance metrics like sprint deliverance ratio, production issues caused, bugs raised, etc. ? What's the importance and significance given to hardcore product work like doing quality product discoveries ? Do you do code reviews? Are you responsible for Engg downtimes? Given that you are donning multiple hats and doing more than one person's work, what's your WLB like? A good way to measure this is how much time do you get to pursue your personal hobbies, say like hitting the gym, on a daily basis ?

Why does Juspay not have EMs?

I have generally seen this either in reel / film life or real life, where people who love what they do, tend to be -
1. Much more happier / satisfied everyday
2. They give way more of themselves into the task not because someone demands it, but because they want to, they enjoy it
3. They constantly improve and be better at this thing
4. They aren't in it for the money. They don't do things or learn more or put more hours because it's paying them, they do it because of the love for the thing. Money is just an add-on

Do you guys have anything like this in life which you enjoy doing so much and can do it without thinking about the money you'd get. This thing shouldn't be something you consume, but something you produce, even if it helps 1 person out, still counts!

Eg. You do coding, learn new things in it, not because it pays you, but because it's what you love doing. You'd probably still keep doing it even if it doesn't pay you anything

What's the one thing you love doing without intention of making money out of it?

To quote Robin Williams - "medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for."

I look forward to the weekly badminton sessions with my friends for two hours on Sundays. The intensity, laughter, sweat and the following conversation in the juice shop. I hope our lives don't take this away from us.
