Pissed with my teammate

How do I deal with a teammate who treats every feedback as criticism and the goes on to defend his actions to the point that it’s impossible to have a civil discussion. Any pointers will help as I have tried almost everything I can think of. Talked to manager and manager doesn’t want to say anything coz he is one of the best in our team🤷

Hi, I recently went on a vacation and informed my manager (CEO) that I won’t be available for a week. He did not say anything but I could sense that he is not happy. On my vacation, I get his text asking what’s the progress at work? I Informed him about my vacation but he asks me to work for 1-2 hours ON A VACATION (This is when they promised flexibile work policy) I politely decline to which he doesn’t say anything. Now, when I’m back, he has started to micromanage and says my work is disappointing according to the standards? I could get that he must be unhappy because a few things didn’t go our way. But, his whole behaviour has changed and he has started acting hostile towards me. I try to ignore and carry on with my work but it gets on my nerves sometimes. Do I continue silently or should I confront? If yes, then how?

As the title suggests, does it make sense to talk about a colleagues’s inability to deliver to my manager. The colleague’s incompetence to take ownership is very evident now to everyone and the manager is not taking any steps on it. Others have to basically cleanup and babysit him. Worse part, this colleague gets paid the highest in the team. At this point it’s just breeding resentment across the team. How to handle this situation? Any tips. Early stage startup, the manager is part of the founding team.

I recently started a new job. I would like to share some of the experiences I have had with my manager. I am wondering if these are red flags or if I am maybe being paranoid or thinking too much. It was quite difficult for me to get into this company and this job. The company is quite great and I was quite excited but some of the experiences I have had with my immediate manager have made me a bit apprehensive. I would like to share them and hear opinions about it. Here are some things which have happened which I have not liked so far - 1. I speak to a Senior Engineer one day and next day my manager asks me if anyone asked me to speak to him. 2. I shared an insight about a new tool which we can use on a deployment pipeline on the overall pod (under my skip manager). My manager immediately called me and started asking my status update and replied 'Discussing 1-1' in the group to prevent anyone getting visibility of the idea. 3. My manager pings me whenever I go offline and recently he asked me in a passive aggressive way, 'Please monitor your Teams status. It was away for most of today.' I now feel kind of paranoid to never get up as I feel my Teams status is being monitored.

I have an engineer on my team who thinks his way is the only correct way. He unnecessarily optimizes his code(For example, he uses methods with multiple params instead of passing the whole object), and adds an extra layer of validation even though the current validation works perfectly fine. He doesn't like if people comment on his PRs and complains that he is blocked by the comments. And the worst thing is, he isn't willing to change his code even if you justify your comments or explain the problems in detail. I'm fed up with this, I gave up multiple times out of frustration. And the technical owner of my team also doesn't want to argue with him. Being a senior engineer in my team, I'm not sure how to deal with this situation.

I'm working as an APM at a startup for about a year now. I work with another guy who happens to be my senior, PM and both of us report to the director. Of late, my senior, i.e., the PM has been undermining my work when the two of us are working together, subtly taunting me that what I've done is pretty easy and non impactful business wise. He also disregards the decisions made by me, modifies the PRDs discovered and written by me and mails them as his own. Eventually, he ends up adding me to the walkthrough calls because I had discovered the features but then concludes everything such that he had owned everything end to end. Recently, both of us were given a documentation to be done by our manager, i.e., the director. I had completed almost 70% of that document, but in our call with the director he presented it saying that he had written that document and I had made a few changes to it. This undermines my work and visibility of my capabilities. I don't know how to tackle this situation, my manager is usually busy and leaves it upto this PM to allocate work, which he unfairly uses. How do I talk to my manager about this. I'm fairly new to corporate, just graduated last year and don't know how to handle all this. But this thing has been bothering me lately, really looking forward to any advise my fellow grapeviners may have.

Hi. I got placed in a very good company through my college placement as an intern. Due to large team size they didn't converted me as a full time employee. But then I got call from another team and go through the interview process like technical rounds mangerial round and hr round. I got offer in that team. Initially they gave me recorded KTs and assigned me few courses regarding the product and I completed that. But the problem arises when I am implementing what I learned from KTs and courses. Not all time, but I reach out to people for some clarity nd then I solve the issue. Within a month i was assigned a task which requires assistance from another team which has only two people from india to assist here. So that task took more time than it usually takes for an experienced member. My Manager on one on one speak like reach out to people when you need help, but when I do he speak like why are you wasting whole team time. And I'm the only one who is at the entry level post and others are seniors and they didn't showed any intrest in training or assisting me. So I'm bit worried about asking our for help. But I do resolve customer side bugs not just trouble shooting also the code changes. As the day went of, one day he said like from day one it's a disappointment from you and I really didn't understand what he saw in me in my first day and in the follow up meeting he says like ur performance is not up to the mark. I'm so depressed by those words and waiting for them to terminate me. When I applied for a week leave for my family function he called me in the morning and said you are terminated. And the reason he told me was performance issues. And I really didn't understand that is this a genuine reason? Thoughts on this..... PS: I got terminated a week back..

I have joined this new company Individually contribute and work with folks onsite. I report to a manager who have multiple projects There is this guy who is like 3-4 yrs experience but behaves like he is the boss when manager isn't around Ruins standups every day with digressions and lengthy non sensical updates He started trying overpower me with some nasty remarks Everybody is fed up with him, With holds information, Treated interns as shit Even seniors are troubled but don't confront aggressively Got to know one of the recent left employee has reprimanded him and also shared the conflict with higher ups They are saying no use as he behaves well with manager and his manager I literally want to confront him and say to behave and act professionally With his snarky remarks some of my days going bad Being 11 years experience I feel so frustrated that I am still facing these narcissists Please advise how to treat this prick in a good way and stop worrying Ps I am all ok with years of experience always feel good work place is major contribution for any ones win

I am currently facing a challenging situation at work and could really use some advice from those with more experience. I’ve recently joined a new project which one of the older team member is handling. However, I’m experiencing some serious issues with his behavior. He frequently blames me for things that haven’t been communicated properly and acts as if he is the boss, which isn’t the case. This has made me feel undervalued and unsure about my own abilities. Is this a common issue? How should I handle this situation? I’m concerned about how it’s affecting my confidence and performance at work. He even told me that I don’t clearly know what is expected from me and I don’t know how to do the tasks better. Any suggestions on how to address this would be greatly appreciated. Since he is much more experienced than me I don’t know what to do.
