Profit booking in stocks?

Have any of you started booking profits? Is it a good time to book at least some part of the profits? I’ve never booked profits before so unsure. From what I’m hearing from everyone, the market will fall in some margin soon. Any suggestions?

Are you booking profits from mutual funds too or just stocks?

On stocks. Yes. There is a rule 'when in doubt cut half' I.e. When you feel your stocks rallied like a J curve, reduce your position size by 25-50%.

On MF: No, as The fund manager takes that call.

These are my personal opinions.

Thank you so much! That makes sense.

Regarding the MF call, do you not sell any part of your funds for profits and stay completely invested tor long term?

Yes. If you are investing for 5+ years then why sell now? Pure equity mutual fund is for long term. Hybrid or debt funds you can exit if you find a better opportunity.

Book profits for stocks you don't know why it went up so high. Partially book for ones you feel have gained enough. Keep if you don't need extra cash.
