Is there a way to get hired as quant developer after 2 yoe in basic Java microservices? What should I get good at to stand out for quant companies?

sadly quant firms emphasize a lot on college as well, should be fine if you're from tier1/2. assuming that you are, make a good resume, start pinging recruiters on linkedin (do keep it updated) and that's the best way to go about it. apply wherever there's an opening, it's a numbers game at the end of the day. i work as a researcher so I'm not sure what kind of tech stack you would need to be a QD though, it depends firm to firm as well

Hello everyone, Posting here on behalf of my friend. Hi, I have 3yoe and have been in a lot of testing and support project. I started my career with Capgemini. Was put in a testing project. Spent 2 years in api and ui testing. Never really learned anything as there wasn't any scope, just did what was necessary. This year switched to cognizant and got good hike. But here also I'm put in a support project . I monitor etl pipelines and if a particular pipeline fails run a couple of query to bring it up. That's all. I wanted to know if I study Java or python and practice in leetcode will I be able to switch to a developer profile. Current CTC 8.4 LPA YOE 3.

Quant Roles!

Always wondered what does the work comprise exactly? Does one do maths all day or little coding with maths? Are the high paying jobs really that stressful? If we are looking to switch from SDE to quant roles, what to focus on? TIA. P.S. From the OAs of some high-end quant roles it seems that they really get into the nitry gritty of a language like C++ and focus on lots of maths, and not much DSA. Do correct me if am wrong.

Seeking change. Looking at FinTech etc

Hi. I'm a 9yr exp full stack engineer. Have done webdev mostly. Currently earning around 30lpa I want a job change because: 1. More money 2. Bored of webdev I was looking around and HFT seemed interesting to me. I haven't done my full research on it, but from what little I have done, it seems like it is a very niche vertical requiring highly skilled folks and also we don't have HFT companies in India? Anyways, I'm not fixated on HFT, that's just one avenue I explored. I just want some better paying programming job where I can feel livelier. For eg., when I do complex DB queries for debugging and reports, or digging and parsing logs to find patterns and debugging, or optimizing some piece of code to squeeze more performance out of it. I am fine with writing basic routine to make bucks but it's not fulfilling. Please advise how to go about my career progression in a fulfilling way.
