Rebound marriages are the worst

Despite the "modern era" we live in, many of us still find ourselves on the path to arranged marriage—often feeling like it's the only option we have. Speaking from personal experience, I've had my fair share of bizarre encounters. Hearing similar stories from my male and female friends who are also going through this process has provided some comfort, especially knowing that I'm not alone. Men on GV: Ask questions on love, relationships and marriage! Women on GV: Answer these questions genuinely and bluntly! I'll go first: Heard about a married couple (married <1 year) and already separated (to be divorced). The wife hid her past and relationship from her family and in-laws. Husband asked about her relationships and she said she isn't in one. No pressure from the guy's family about marriage. Girl said yes and for months pretended to be excited about marriage. Post marriage, husband realised that she's cheating, excessive partying drinking, and smoking. Husband is in a disarray and suicidal. Now I know there are both men and women like her (not making it a gender thing). But as a man looking for a partner/relationship/girlfriend, how do we be careful and what red and green flags should we look for, in a woman, while looking for a genuine relationship?

I know I'm not the only one having to go through this. Let's speak our heart out.

Fairy Tale Expectations - Movies and novels set unrealistic expectations for marriage. People expect a perfect life and avoid dealing with real problems together. Thanks to internet - Real life communications made it more complicated Individualism - Selfishness: Building a strong marriage takes lot of compromises and time together. Many people love to spend their time with ofc colleagues, but refuse spend with family. Two jobs in single family, built a confidence that money can save you from all problems Too Many Choices: Thanks to internet and dating apps which made it easy to meet new people. This literally gives confidence to leave relationships without fear of being alone for lifelong. Bad Habits: Alcohol, weed, and drugs are normalized, but they destroy a person’s inner self. When you lose yourself to these habits, it’s hard to be a good partner because it gives you confidence to do every shit Late Marriages: Marrying at older age often means having rigid mindsets. It’s harder to adapt and change, which can hurt the relationship.

I've been of the opinion that I don't want to marry and will enjoy life single. Turned 28 this year and for some reasons, my thoughts and perceptions changed and decided to give it a shot. Installed a matrimony app and didn't find much things happening there until I found a girl whom I thought I would give a try. I requested a match which got accepted very soon. Fast forward, it's been 2 months since we whastapped each other. The only thing bothering me is that she's working in audit and says that she's too busy for texts, calls etc. And over the course of this 2 months period, we only managed to call each other thrice(including 1 video call). I had asked her to atleast try to call me but she's too busy/ not feeling well/ tired etc. I really had feelings for her initially, but even after multiple attempts, she still keeps me waiting, I feel I'm slowly losing it and have reached a stage where i don't feel anything. What should I do? P.S. we live in different time zones with a difference of 1.5 hours and by the time I'm back from gym, it'll be 11-11:30 pm her side. I try to have food and everything very quickly and make time for her everyday, only to be disappointed most days. And most of her texts are scattered, with time gaps ranging from 10-16 hours at times. She tells me she's too exhausted and has no energy for anything but I am cent percent sure that she is using phone for insta, twitter etc even when my chats are waiting.

To all those guys who have decided to stay unmarried for their whole life.... What's the reason ?????

Saw a couple of posts on X claiming (read boasting) India’s divorce rate as 1%. If we believe this to be true, I think this is majorly because of the show-off nature of the society. Almost every marriage I’ve known about in last 5 years has loads of adjustments on the girl’s end. Things might be looking so good on out (instagram pics of holiday, social validation of money and wealth) but scratching the surface yields another story. There are issues with in-laws, random expectations for girl and her family, dowry (“gifts”) and what not. Even the best folks (guy) I know in corporate give in to this culture silently in the name of not going against their family. Would like to hear thoughts on this. Are there stories of mid-age/new couples worth considering ideal?

The vision of working from scratch to build wealth has made so many families be in middle class Dowry also pushed families from wealthy to working class Raising kids as frustrated, tired individuals - Such a shitty arrangement imo
