Seeking Ideas: How Can I Pitch the Perfect Leave Excuse for Next Monday? 😄

We’re pretty chill. But I’m planning to go for a vacation to Kerala for 10 days almost, and since i told them they have been weird. Immediate response was to say that it’ll be tough to manage the project and that long a leave isn’t possible I debated back and they were like fine. But since then it’s just been very cold. What can I do? 🤕

My cousins are visiting us from the US, and we are planning a trip to Japan for 8 days. I joined a new company just a few weeks ago, and it will be around 2 months into my employment on the day of the trip. I am being assigned tasks slowly, so I'm not sure what to do, whether to go on the family trip or stay alone at home and go to work while the rest of my family members enjoy the trip. YOE: 1.7

My manager called me in the meeting and said that from now onwards all 7 days are working because we are behind tasks. ( These tasks are irrelevant to me as these are not related to any customer development, he just wants to see how the data adds up ) Honestly I think it was the diwali week where people took things lightly and not that we are behind deadlines. He asked me to be available 24x7 this Friday to Sunday but I had already planned the weekend off with family and pre intimated this 10 days in advance. Now I'm getting calls that 'x' task was not done and 'y' customer is complaining etc. ( which is not the case ) On this break, I've finally made up my mind to quit. The mental pressure is not worth it. WHAT is a good way to put it across to the leadership??

Context - Applied for leave but manager told that there might be some work coming my way so don’t take leave. I obliged but then I had an Idea of Workcation 😭 Since work till now is pretty lite so I planned a workcation thinking I would be working for like 4-5 hrs and will roam around in the evening. But on the day of my travel, my manager called and told me that there’s some high priority work and I had to put in long hours for getting this delivered within this week so considering I will not be having much time to roam and explore, I ended up cancelling my travel plan losing 15k in bookings and here I am, having not much to do because we are waiting for other folks to share some data and inputs. I mean wth 🤦‍♂️ Life has fucked me really hard. Note- I live with my parents so I had planned a good 4 days getaway with my wife but it seems destiny had other plans. Since my parents are dependent so we both never got chance to travel and explore in each other company. Venting out here for no reason.

So, my boss is an absolutely lovely person, and is the best boss I've had so far. Not to brag, but I'm also the best performer in my team, by a mile. So, while I do get my pats on the back, I'm also rewarded with more and more work. I love, atleast so far, what I do, so I didn't mind taking up more work, because I learnt a lot in the process too, and it helped my hone my craft better. Cut to now, I'm losing interest in work. Don't feel like taking up any new work, no matter how exciting the brief, or how great its potential. I feel like I'm burnt out. And majorly demotivated. What makes it worse is seeing this other member in my team chill the absolute fk out. He's hardly even given any important projects because of what a waste resource he is. I've also just been promoted. So, I'm not sure if I should share what's on my mind with my boss. My mind says I shouldn't, but my heart says it should be fine. What should I do about: 1. Telling or not telling my boss what I'm going through (because I'm scared if it'll come back to bite my later) 2. Me feeling extremely burnt out and demotivated. Drop in a joke or two, if you want, but please drop in a serious and genuine reply too.

I have applied for leave for 2 days this Thursday n Fri, There’s certain important presentation came up on this Thursday. I said I have lay over for 3 hrs. I will do the presentation in that, no issues from my side. My manager said, no I don’t entertain such behaviours in my team. If you’re on leave, enjoy it. Don’t think about it work. I felt weird coz, I have never worked in any org, where managers stops you to work 😅
