I'm a marketeer with 10 years of experience and planning on up skilling myself with the know-hows of product management.

I'm considering taking up ISB's Executive Education Product Management Course.

Anyone here that has done the course and knows if it's worth it? Any help appreciated!

Anybody here who has done or has any views on the 12 week course by ISB for product management, is it good or just another gimmick course? Also planning my next move so looking at the next courses to upskill!

ISB product management worth it ?

Hi everyone,

I came across a 36 week product management course from IIM Kozhikode (Approx 1.8 L + GST) and a 12 week program from ISB (Approx 1.4 L + GST).

Do these courses/programs help? I am interested in understanding product management better and if these courses will help me in achieving that (and potentially help my career), I might enroll in one of these 2 courses.

A bit of background - I am nearing 16 years in IT. Was primarily into Automation testing and now am a Test Manager in a big4.

I am okayish with my current salary but wouldn't think twice if a better role with better pay came my way. Also, don't mind moving from a Test Manager role to Product Management.

I browsed through the curriculum and some of the topics I am already familiar with. 
Would you suggest I enroll in one of these courses and will it help having  a certification from one of these institutes? I guess I could also read books and browse YouTube for knowledge but,I doubt that would have the same impact as one of these courses (provided they are of use and actually have good content).

I work as a PM in a B2B SaaS startup and have an overall 4 years of experience all of which is in product management. Now, feeling a stagnant in growth and salary. I was wondering if I should try for an. MBA from IIMs or ISB?

My current package is around 36 LPA. I do not want to change my field and I like being a PM. Then does MBA make sense for me in long term?

Hi folks, I’m a Sr. PM at a good startup currently getting 40 LPA. My total experience is 6 years (2 years PM). One of the CXOs suggested to me (over a casual conversation) to consider doing an MBA from ISB or Ivy League colleges if I can afford a career break. 

I know that post-MBA might not see a huge jump in CTC but from a long-term perspective do you think it would be worth it? Will it open more avenues for growth?

I am a senior frontend dev (lead) with 8 years of experience. Just have a BCA degree from 3 tier college.

After years of staring at screen constantly for good 10+hrs, i want to make a move to Non Tech role like PM or Engg Manager Role.
Help with what all options do I have to make a switch- 
1- MBA from Normal xyz college will give a low yield
2- MBA from Ivy league will take time to crack and complete.
3- PMP course just for the sake of it
4- Pmp course from ISB or Keylogg to actually learn it
Currently 33 age, ctc 36lpa fixed.
Also, will I be able to get similiar ctc ?

I did my engineering from a very basic college and have not done MBA yet, below is my career graph please suggest if I am at the right path or not

1. Associate Software Engineer- 1 years experience at service based company 
2. PMO - same company 1.5 years experience 
3. Project Analyst- 6 months service based company 
4. Ed-Tech start up- 3 years Senior Program Manager
5. Program Manager- 1.2 years Product Based e-commerce start up( Not Amazon, Flipkart type)
6. Product Manager - 4 months till now, same company

My salary growth been like 3.5lpa, 5.5lpa, 6lpa,11lpa, 16lpa,22lpa (all fixed)

If I compare to other product managers my salary is very low but I just transitioned to product role and even though it’s very hard for me to learn I am putting 100% effort.

Career Advice Needed!! Should I continue Product or move to Program Management ?!!

I am a frontend engineer in a startup with a CTC of 7. I am also from a tier 3 engineering college graduated last month.
I want to become a product manager in the future. 
So my question is what things I should to achieve my goal. Will doing an MBA help me, if yes which is more better MBA from old IIM’s, ISB or global MBA ?

Me: APM with almost 2 years of experience looking to do an MBA to fast track my career.

Post-MBA roles:

- Program/Project Management
- General Management

Long term goal: To stay in India; fine with working 2-3 years abroad.

Query 1: Considering an average profile with 9/8/8 in high school/intermediate/college, tier-1 undergrad and 2 years work-ex at a start-up. Do I have a chance to bag an MBA admit from the following with little scholarship:

- LBS
- Insead
- HEC Paris
- Oxford
- Cambridge
- SDA Bocconi
- NUS Singapore
- IESE
- ISB

I'm targeting 1 year programs only for cost purposes, hence the US is out of the picture. Feel free to suggest good 1 yr US programs

Query 2: How much GMAT is required for my profile to get into these schools?

Query 3: Are 2 year IIM Programs more advisable for me and should I leave abroad colleges altogether. At the maximum, I can't wait more than 3 years of work-ex at the time of applying due to personal reasons.

My opinion -  
  
 Q1 - If your long term goal is to be in India, prefer institutions within india. Reason - You won’t be able to build network, an imp component of any MBA program. I know someone who went Dublin and struggling even to get references back home. Adding A/B/C will help  
  
 Q2 - Target 720, you will land at a better place. GMAT is just a barrier, not the deciding criteria. 
  
 Q3- 2 years would be good considering your constraints and long term goals. If you can extend 1 more year, you’ll be eligible for IIMs 1 yr MBAs.  
  
 Overall - It’s my strong opinion that if you are targeting foreign MBAs, value derivation will happen only if you plan to stay, work abroad for few years. Financial burdens will be less plus you will something worthwhile to show. See the privilege of “foreign-returned” is slowly reducing in india as global roles are getting created here as well.

Hey there!

So, I have a friend who's currently an Associate Project Manager at an MNC. 
He's been doing the technical thing for 1.10 years and recently moved into the APM role. (YOE:2.5ish)

The thing is, while the pay and work-life balance are good, he's not feeling all that jazzed about his work and wants to level up his career. 

He's got his sights set on a Consultant/Product Manager gig and wants our help to make it happen!

Here are a few questions we have, and we'd love to hear your thoughts:

1.Would it be worth it for him to go for an MBA, particularly at ISB, to snag that Consultant/Product Manager role?
2.Are there other ways he could make the transition without having to go back to school?
3.How do Project Manager salaries and work stack up against those of Product Managers?

Any insights or tips you could share would be much appreciated.

Hello!

I'm standing at a career crossroads and could really use some perspective.
Profile : 
-YOE-3yrs. 
-2 years in a technical role and
- 1year working as a Project manager in a well known MNC.
- Graduated from a well-known T-2 college engineering college. 

I've always wanted to be in a managerial role. I feel like I'd definitely do better in such a role, in the long run.

I'm considering going for an MBA at ISB, but – the idea of taking on a 45-lakh loan is giving me pause. Coming from a middle-class background, it's a significant financial commitment. 

Plus, the job outlook for Product roles is fuzzy, and I'm not entirely sold on the consulting scene either. 
The big question is whether an MBA from ISB would really pay off. 

If you've gone through a similar decision-making process or have insights, navigating a career shift post-MBA, or just general advice on making a call like this, I'd love to hear what you have to say.
