Nifty down 1.6% , Bank nifty down 2.5%, Realty down 5% , Metal down 3.5%.

I get happy when the market rises, but i get extremely happy when it falls or correct :) 
Let the fall begin 🙌🏻

STOCK MARKETS - THE FALL

Machine Learning Engineer

- Central Banks have almost achieved their objective of controlling inflation through tightened monetary policy. Though the CPI is inching lower,  asset inflation is resurfacing through stock prices and real estate. 
- Many listed companies that came out with the quarterly numbers are nothing good to talk about. Growth and profits are subdued and for small and mid caps the numbers are decimated but the stocks are still trading at a historical premium. 
- Analysts will once again start downgrading the earnings forecast and that will start the downward momentum. Once again people will undergo the "Flight to Quality" effect. 
- No of Bankruptcies is steadily increasing 
- No of Job openings are trending lower
- Most of the US listed firms that have borrowed at a lower interest rate in 2021 are coming up for renewals this year. By the time they refinance, they will be doing it at a higher interest rate which will impact their PAT as a result their EPS estimates will take a biting. 
- Gold looks attractive from a market cycle standpoint. 

My Recommendation: 
- Have an emergency fund for at least 6 to 9 months to cover your expenses. 
- Exit overvalued small and microcaps stocks. Move to a reasonably valued large cap.
- Have health insurance for you and your dependents. 
- Move out of small cap mutual funds and have some allocation to debt funds.

Seeing a lot of MF houses putting investment limits on Mid cap and small call MFs. What are your thought on that? 

Are you still investing in Mid and small caps funds? Any finance experts here cares to explain why is this happening?

While I have my sip continuing in both mid and small caps, I am moving my lump sum investment to large caps now.

1. What kind of investor are you? 
I am an opportunity investor, and I do buy good stocks whenever they are in reasonable valuations. Below are my monthly numbers. 

2. Where’s the majority of your investment portfolio ?
I have three RE investments and one of them has loan. And I’m planning to buy a property in Goa or HP. 

3. What’s your monthly investment breakdown?

1.7L/ Month (approx) 

60k - SIP (mutual funds)
60k - stocks (smallcase, us stocks using vested) 
30k - as opportunity fund, this is transferred to a different bank account 
10-20k - for experimental investments in crypto, nfts, and some trading. This is a new segment and I don’t have much experience in this and that’s why starting small here. 

4. Anything else you want to share? 

I am learning to invest on a daily basis. Reading, videos and podcasts are my sources. Some of my tops picks are Whiteboard finance (Marko), My first Million and Smart Passive Income, finance with Saran, and Akshat Shrivastava.

Zero exposure to US stocks. 
Zero exposure to Crypto.
Have a house (~45 lacs) for parents in a Tier 2 city which I haven’t added here. 
No liabilities (finished an education loan and a home loan)

Recently started investing in NPS and will continue to do (~1.5 lpa) and accumulating SGB (~2.5 lacs, the screenshot doesn’t capture gold correctly) from the past 6 months.

Question - is there merit in talking money out of EPF and reinvesting in Mutual Funds? What is the general view.

The power of compounding really works! 
Started with a meagre salary of 4L/annum in 2018. But made sure to SIP 5K every month in Mutual Funds, and kept on increasing with career progression. This could’ve been more but I wasn’t able to regularly SIP during the two years of my masters I did after my first job. 

This may not be as much as the other tech dude bros out here sitting in CRs but this is a big milestone for me and all I’d like to say is SIP really does work and it’s all about being in the long run. Onwards and upwards only now 💪🏼💪🏼

Currently Market is offering an excellent Risk : Reward. I know how hard it is right now to build positions, that is why i have a focused approach(Nifty 100 only). Whenever the market is going to give you Risk : Reward things are not going to be rosy.

I carry out 1 exercise on the weekend to check the market breadth when markets are falling. I couldn't post last weekend but i will try to post it this weekend. It immensely helps me in building a hypothesis.

In my post i mentioned that buying Opportunity currently exists in the market but Risk : Reward wise Banks, FMCG , Metals are an excellent bet at this stage. Also stocks from Nifty 100 are exhibiting strength wrt to Broader market .ie. Nifty 500, Nifty 750.

I have gone behind Bank Nifty Fut today but with 50% of intended Scale in. I will scale up another 50% after some stability in Nifty.
I have gone behind Bank Nifty FUT and not options. The journey is not going to be smooth on the upside, momentum is missing so dabble into options only if you understand risk.

Now, I have started to build a newer position in a few counters but they are from the Nifty 100 list only. For the time being Nifty 100 is my only universe. I am tracking stocks from small cap, mid cap space as well but i wont buy anything unless those indices become stable.

ABB, HAVELLS, COLPAL , ICICPRULI , JINDAL S, TATA S. Except Havells all of them have given an entry opportunity and Risk : Reward is great.

TATA M, M&M, DLF are eg of stocks that will offer opportunity. In one of my posts I mentioned that i want to go behind M&M but risk : reward is skewed. Now i might get an opportunity. Out of Auto, Realty i will just go behind 1 Stock.

Global and US markets are stable. Let's see what we do. I have my Stop losses in place, if things start going south, i will simply cut out.
