How do I deal with a teammate who treats every feedback as criticism and the goes on to defend his actions to the point that it’s impossible to have a civil discussion. 
Any pointers will help as I have tried almost everything I can think of. Talked to manager and manager doesn’t want to say anything coz he is one of the best in our team🤷

I am a SWE with 2 yrs exp. recently I found out that juniors in my team are being paid atleast 10% more than me. This thing has been bugging me so much that I setup a meeting with my manager but here’s the thing- I have no idea how to talk about this to my manager. I obviously think it’s unfair given how much more work I am doing. 
Can experienced people here please guide me on how to approach this meeting?

Six months back I started working on AI based  project which is an R&d from scratch when I completed stage one New people who are higher position than me started working with me to extend it to next phase I felt very happy but the things didn't happened in expected way. I thought they came to me to coloborate and help the project but I came to know at some point that they are just here to showcase the work I did, prepare ppts to explain clients. Moreover project manager showed favouritism by giving liberal tasks or already completed tasks which don't need any research to be done. I didnt focused on this because my focus is learning. I have completed phase 2 on my own which is converting to project, and when I completed it they started asking me to share code and provide KT this made me suspicious, So I didn't shared the code, dragged it for 2 months they tried to achieve by their own it didn't succeed for them so again they started asking me to share knowledge. I know if I share the code and give KT, I will be thrown out from this. They started ghosting me by doing prank calls like whether I am looking for an oppurtunity outside. After some days I decided this not my place to work, my focus should be on skills and solving problems with these politics in my initial stage of tech will not going to help in long run. So I shared and provided KT then next day I am released from the project. After few months I am asked to force resign because of being on bench.

I thinking to share these things to my CEO, along with proofs it upto them to take any action or not. The same thing happened to my colleague in another project. I don't want this to repeat for others.

Need your suggestion on this.

How to handle a situation if manager humiliates someone in every meeting in front of other team members?

I don't know about you guys, but I had some encounters where senior designers were rude in the way they spoke and gave their opinions in critics. Quite frankly I think it's the senior designers who need to learn soft skills more than anyone, because it's directly affecting the confidence of juniors who're still learning and entering the field. Please be kind, balance praise and criticism and think about the people who will be taking the industry forward in the future.

Can senior designers learn how to give good feedback?

Seeking advice on how to grow at work, without having to butter up too many people. I have been struggling with this, because I feel too many people around are managing their managers, and using it as way to grow. My reviews and feedbacks have consistently been good, but I feel that for the output I provide, I am not growing as much, because of favouritism.

Hey guys, i am going to be a manager for the first time in a company that i have been working at for 3 years and I have people joining me from monday.. any tips for being a good manager?

- Just be receptive to their thoughts, understand their povs. 
  
 - Help them understand their role and your expectations from them clearly. 
  
 - Direct manager plays a huge role in someone’s POV about the organisation, set some biweekly or monthly one on ones to understand/tackle problems they are facing. use the same meeting to communicate your expectations from them. 
  
 - One thing that is often neglected is, making sure your team members have a visibility outside your team as well. Promote a culture where in your manager also knows about your subordinates and what they are good at.  
  
 - Provide them your support towards their career goals. 
  
 - Finding a good balance between becoming too strict (getting work done) vs too supportive ( some lemons take advantage of this). 
  
 If you end up doing half of the above they will remember you throughout their career. I was fortunate enough to have two manager in my career like that. Both of them I still reach out for career guidance.

Scene: Our team is working on it. We’ll get back to you.
Reality: I have no idea about what the issue is. I’m completely dependent on my team.

Scene: I have a hard stop now. Have to drop off.
Reality: I don’t care about the ongoing meeting. My “passive” attendance in some other meeting is more important than the ongoing meeting.

Scene: +team FYI 
Reality: Not my responsibility. Team must take a look.

Scene: Do you have some bandwidth?
Reality: If you say no, I will use this against you during appraisal.

Scene: Feel free to give feedback about leadership. Your opinion is important for continuous improvement.
Reality: Negative feedback should be worded with politically correct statements. Else be ready to face consequences.

Scene: The leadership team expects so-and-so from you.
Reality: I’m not capable of questioning the leadership team. I’m just passing the buck to you.

Scene: Can you prepare a deck by this day?
Reality: I want to show a rosy picture to my leaders. I will ‘use’ you to impress my leaders.

Scene: Who wants to work on this item?
Reality: I’ll judge employees who don’t volunteer.

Scene: I want you to complete this (bullshit work) by this weekend at any cost.
Reality: I want to save my ass in this job.

Scene: Do you have any blockers?
Reality: As if I’m capable of resolving them…lol

Scene: Taking a day off. Reachable on mobile.
Reality: Added the second statement to ‘show’ how important & flexible I am. I know you’ll not call me anyways.

Scene: Manager presenting something. Do you have any questions?
Reality: -silence-

I currently work in a project that is driven by CEO and he is very intimidating. I work my ass off to make sure he gets what expects but today he was especially aggressive during the call. After the call I asked him to wait up for two mins and started telling him that I am getting intimidated by him. Although he was nice to me when I confronted him, now I am feeling embarrassed because I broke down a little when I spoke. Tears started flowing and I am feeling like a weak person. Just fyi I am an adult male.

I ended up breaking down in front of my CEO

It's ok to express your emotions.  Especially in times of stress / duress.  
  
 You'll be fine.  
  
 It's also important to sometimes define boundaries - if that was the intent of your talk with him today.  It's feedback and if he is an understanding leader, he'll give you your space and time.
