There is one guy on my team who handles feedback so poorly that they engage in narcissistic tendencies. I've seen them bootlick the right people due to their closer proximity and utilize crony wordplay to show that they are harmless. When in fact they try to advance their own agenda to further their own gain. Every company on their resume is a checklist and the megalomania in them is palpable. 

Unfortunately most people on the team are too naive and won't realize it until it's too late. Which means by the time he is done using everyone else, he will bounce and do it at their next company while completely f'ing over their current coworkers.

Anyone had a similar experience?

#2/15 Think & Grow Rich - Summary

So I had an interesting epiphany recently. I have been pondering upon the possibility of UFOs and Aliens, and questions like Are we alone? One thought crossed my mind was what if Alien life is not in the same dimension as we live in? Like we observe the world in a 3d dimension of space and 1d dimension of time, but we have other creatures like Bacteria and viruses who see the world differently than we do. From there perspective the world is likely 2d space. I wondered if alien life exists in 4d or higher dimensions and they observe us as we observe bacteria. Now the possibility the the entire universe is a Simulation is not new for Science. Scientist estimate that there is 20 percent possibility that we live in a Simulation. 

Now I started wondering what would be the consequences of living in a world with higher dimensions let's say a 4d world. How would forces of nature and physics work there. Well I  did some research on the internet and found quite few shocking results. Like Gravity would be very Weak, magnesium will be noble gas, tying a knot would be impossible. A higher dimensional being could meddle with our organs like we can draw dots inside a circle without ever crossing circumference. A higher dimensional being could easily interfere with our world. He can see through our world, he can easily cover huge distance almost instantly. 

Now I thought sounds familiar 🤔. Our mythology is filled with such episodes. Devas can fly as if gravity doesn't impacts them, It was difficult for Yashoda to tie Krishna with a rope knot. Basically god's can appear instantly anywhere in the universe.  There's also a verse in Mahabharat where Shantanu asks Devdut how was his time in the Devlok, to which he replied that God's see the human world differently, and human would to them is like a game of Chausar. (Like a video game or simulation). Also, Hindu religion ofter describes Sansar as Maya or manifestation by God. Nothing is real. Ngl, Goosebumps

Just across my home was a house with windows covered with black sheets. I had heard that it was a house of some lawyer. I was too young at that time. Imagination is a crazy subject. You need more information to create more imagination but more information can cap your imagination at the same time. 

My mind painted a picture of the insides of the house in front. I had watched a lot of Hindi movies. Lawyers were big guns of the society dealing with a lot of bad people. I could see many bad people sitting in the room behind those black closed windows. They called him Shukla ji. He was a tall guy in a black and white dress with a brief case in his hand containing lots of money. Once we accidentally confronted each other and he praised me saying I would one day become a very big lawyer. I had never seen him. Neither he ever met me. 

Things have changed a lot over past 20 years. He doesn’t live there anymore. I am not sure if he is alive. I am not sure if I am alive, either. I have ran out of imagination. Sometimes I wonder if I could ever imagine like I used to. That makes me anxious. Maybe my brain doesn’t have that capacity anymore, maybe I can never be the same child again. Is it over? Wait.. or have I just become better at imagination but this time in negative way. I worry a lot. That’s some imagination, right ? Should I get happy for the first time about the fact that I worry a lot; I overthink. Is the existential crisis that hits me every night - an imagination but the adult version of it? 

I think the lawyer must have died but I am alive. I think therefore I am.

My answer to this is:

We are in a big cycle where India will become everything great. Last 8 years have taught me that we are in the greatest momentum bet of this country's life time. So, don't rule out India. 

Build in India. Invest in India. Believe in India. 

There are many in this community that are complete nihilists and supremely bearish towards India's prospects. And let me tell you, for once in this country's history, being a complete maximalist on India is a bet that you will not regret. 

There will be a new generation of millionaires and billionaires that will be minted on new industries. So keep hustling and this country will unleash great dividends for you and your legacy.

Your thinking patterns develop and evolve when you're unfazed by external stimuli. Just alone with your mind, and constructing new ways to think.

Children who get time to dream imagine think that way, go on to be the smartest

Introverts often naturally become good thinkers

As children use more tech, they'll become dumber in ways of thinking. But they'll have more tools and info at their disposal.

The creative fabric of society will collapse after AI.

As human beings it is our right (maybe our moral duty) to reshape the universe to our preferences
* Technology, which is really knowledge, enables this
* You should probably work on raising the ceiling, not the floor


Enthusiasm matters!
* It's much easier to work on things that are exciting to you
* It might be easier to do big things than small things for this reason
* Energy is a necessary input for progress


It's important to do things fast
* You learn more per unit time because you make contact with reality more frequently
* Going fast makes you focus on what's important; there's no time for bullshit
* "Slow is fake"
* A week is 2% of the year
* Time is the denominator


 The efficient market hypothesis is a lie
* At best it is a very lossy heuristic
* The best things in life occur where EMH is wrong
* In many cases it's more accurate to model the world as 500 people than 8 billion
* "Most people are other people"


We know less than we think
* The replication crisis is not an aberration
* Many of the things we believe are wrong
* We are often not even asking the right questions


The cultural prohibition on micromanagement is harmful
* Great individuals should be fully empowered to exercise their judgment
* The goal is not to avoid mistakes; the goal is to achieve uncorrelated levels of excellence in some dimension
* The downsides are worth it


Smaller teams are better
* Faster decisions, fewer meetings, more fun
* No need to chop up work for political reasons
* No room for mediocre people (can pay more, too!)
* Large-scale engineering projects are more soluble in IQ than they appear
* Many tech companies are 2-10x overstaffed


Where do you get your dopamine?
* The answer is predictive of your behavior
* Better to get your dopamine from improving your ideas than from having them validated

I’m a very private person and I was a bit confused whether I should write here or not, but anyway.

So, day before yesterday I was sitting on my chair after dinner and was thinking about my life and what the hell am I doing.

I realised that,
Saala bachpan se aaj tak race me hi bhaag raha hun. Pehle school me 1st, 2nd, 3rd aane ki race me. Then acche college milne ki race me. Then uske baad acchi job milne ki race me. Then uske baad agar ladki chahiye toh uske liye bhi ek race hai (Don’t have a gf, plz don’t take me wrong, it was a realisation)

My current daily routine is like this:
Wakeup everyday, write code, go gym, dinner, and then sleep and repeat this cycle everyday.

School ke dost peeche chhoot gaye, college ke dost apni life me busy ho gaye, colleagues se main zyada baat nhi karta and main akela padh gaya.

Feels like life is not intriguing anymore, it has no spark left. Its so painful to live everyday.

I feel like I don’t want to live any more, I want to die but I can’t cuz of 2 reasons.
1. I’m the only son of my parents.
2. If I die like this, then I won’t be able to come out from the birth cycle.

I’m sure all of us are above average at at least one thing. It could range from making a mean Maggi to playing an instrument to making new friends to flirting to anything else. What’s yours? 

I like researching in depth about financial products and have a good working knowledge of common topics such as tax, mutual funds, insurance. 😊

I don't know if this post would make sense, but does anyone ever wish they were less? Less competent, less "bright", less "smart"? I'm not being braggy but I am pretty smart (not book smart but smart smart) and while objectively I am doing pretty good, I just constantly feel like I'm not living up to my fullest potential!

Should I be on the lookout for a better job (the present one is fine) or preparing to study more or, I don't know, to scale and scale? It feels like everyone has such high expectations of me and I hate making mistakes, even if it is a typo in a document

The anxiety that I'll never live up to my potential becomes so crippling, it becomes counter productive and like Dr. Strange, I forseen like a 100 different possible outcomes of every decision because I can't seem to turn my brain off! Ignorance is bliss and I so wish I could be ignorant
