The labour laws should be governed and created to support the working labours, not the rich, elite and the CEOs. 

Just look at the working condition at Twitter. If this was in India, he could've fired 1000s of people without giving any severence at all. No government would've cared. That's how pathetic our country's labour laws are.

Laws should make companies think twice before exploiting their people who had worked hard to support the company.

I recently got an offer and the notice period over there is 60 days. In my past companies it was 30 days everywhere. Just wanted to know your opinion.

I geniually want to understand why we are behind in manufacturing ? Although I'm from commerce background but I would love to know how does one start manufacturing business in India ?

Why is Indian manufacturing so behind compared to China ?

Autocracy vs democracy. China got to manipulate its currency for two decades at a stretch - got it pegged at 6 remnibi to usd keeping exports cheap, influenced/lobbies/spied at the highest levels in the US government for decades (look up Larry Wu Tai). This meant unbelievably high USD inflow into China for decades. Chinese nationals who emigrate to US are loyal to China, steal IPs, some are even PLA trained - look up PLA members posing as students in ivy leagues. China pays up American profs to work for them (look up collaborations of Wuhan institute of virology). Their communist background helped since most American institutions are infiltrated by communists thanks to Russia paving the way - so much that they got US to dethrone ROC (Taiwan) from UNSC. Till today, US does not recognise Taiwan as an independent nation despite the grandstanding. Not saying this is all wrong, but they played geopolitics very well over decades and got loyal, nationalistic citizens.

It’s disheartening to see 1000s of people being laid off in recent times. Most of them have a family to feed and EMIs / bills to pay.

Today it’s them and tomorrow it could be Me and You as well. 

And it’s pretty much clear that these new age companies are not empathetic and would go to any extent to meet their goals.

Why isn’t any employee doing anything about these atrocities? 

Following are the few ways to send out a strong message to these employers for abusing / blackmailing / and forcing resignations and PIPs (share more in comments)

1. Boycott their products / Services - make a noise about it on social media.

2. Stop subscribing to their IPOs or start dumping their stocks.

3. Uninstall their apps.

I’m a very private person and I was a bit confused whether I should write here or not, but anyway.

So, day before yesterday I was sitting on my chair after dinner and was thinking about my life and what the hell am I doing.

I realised that,
Saala bachpan se aaj tak race me hi bhaag raha hun. Pehle school me 1st, 2nd, 3rd aane ki race me. Then acche college milne ki race me. Then uske baad acchi job milne ki race me. Then uske baad agar ladki chahiye toh uske liye bhi ek race hai (Don’t have a gf, plz don’t take me wrong, it was a realisation)

My current daily routine is like this:
Wakeup everyday, write code, go gym, dinner, and then sleep and repeat this cycle everyday.

School ke dost peeche chhoot gaye, college ke dost apni life me busy ho gaye, colleagues se main zyada baat nhi karta and main akela padh gaya.

Feels like life is not intriguing anymore, it has no spark left. Its so painful to live everyday.

I feel like I don’t want to live any more, I want to die but I can’t cuz of 2 reasons.
1. I’m the only son of my parents.
2. If I die like this, then I won’t be able to come out from the birth cycle.

For anyone interested in how things turned out, here it is...

TLDR: Employee/new mom filed an FIR, police closed it after she admitted she quit after we tried to put her on a PIP. (In FIR she said she was wrongly terminated)

The women's commission of India summoned me after and it was an experience! I got scolded for about 2h by four women... but in the end they just scolded me like angry teachers? I guess they tried to give the lady some satisfaction by humiliating me. Pretty sad if that's all they can do to represent women with genuine cases.

Overall the average grapevine user said I was in the wrong for putting a new mom on a PIP, regardless of performance before and after pregnancy.

Most critical folks told me I should've informed the employee about performance issues before maternity. Lawyers say I made the right choice and protected the company.

It's a bit messed up that laws designed to protect women at work end up making things worse for them. Because of legal fear we went directly to a formal PIP with recorded calls with HR, the direct manager and others refused to do anything without legal advice. But in the end, she filed a case, so perhaps the cold approach recommended by lawyers was sadly correct.

Lastly, I finally saw that outside of my own business echo chamber (both men and women business people), society holds pregnant women and new moms valuable above all else. Someone like me who is a bachelor & slave to capitalism has a totally different set of values, as such some people think I'm fair game for insults. But I hope by making products of value I can make a positive impact in my own way.

Employees were assured on last Thursday that the salaries would be credited today but yet another mail came in with the news of salaries being rolled out by this week. Words are cheap and the leadership hasn’t even addressed any of these concerns since a month now!

Story time- When I left my last organization, I was really pissed and hence released all my anger in the exit interview. Told everything - the politics, loop holes, what needs to be changed, etc. 

Now 2 months down, I got to know from a colleague that the same HR who took my exit interview, asked my ex manager, "ISKA FnF CLEAR KARNA HAI KYA, YA OR KHEECHE THODA? "

Yup, she said that. My ex manager was good enough to not entertain it and asked her to clear it ASAP. But the audacity of the HR!!!!!! 

I so feel like mentioning the company and THE HR'S NAME but let it be. I am sure with such practices, she ain't going anywhere.

Why are Indian managers hard to work with?

After the unfortunate death of the EY CA, the whole country is talking about how work life balance should be prioritised but will we ever do it?

There is no solidarity among corporate workers. The people in the top posts of the hierarchy will always try to suck the life out of their juniors. Everyone is compared based on the package they get, the project they work on or the awards they receive. Do you really expect a “union” from these people? A junior employee can never stand up for himself as the reply from the senior will always be - There are many others who can take this up just quit the job.

Labor law is a total shit show in our great country. Leadership is focused on just three things - Division based on religion, reservation and freebies. We say India is one of the strongest economies but the dark reality here is the government begs the companies to set up their base here in return of “labourers” who can slog all day like robots. These labourers are replaceable at any moment of time and paid peanuts. Now think of this - No work life balance, shitty pay but the highest taxes. 

The sad reality is that there is not a single person who can or will stand for us corporate majdoors. Youngsters are having various health issues like weight gain, BP, Diabetes and hair loss but who cares right? This is how it is. Keep slogging to get to the top and repeat the same with your juniors.

Will we ever stand up for ourselves?

So yeah a friend of mine got his salary deducted by 12%.
He got a D band as he came from onsite two months ago and took a leave, after which he was in bench for 1 month.
Now while checking revised compensation he noticed that his salary got deducted by 12%.
Pushing him back 2 years of increment.

On the other hand I got 4.5% increment for pulling 12 hours days.

Well guys this is it. TCS started salary deduction.

Whether it's through salary negotiations, seeking out better opportunities, or advocating for change within our organizations, let's stand together and demand the compensation we deserve. Because when we value ourselves, others will too.

1. Most of the time it sucks because you're comparing and that'll always take your joy. In some cases, you're not underpaid but someone else is overpaid. 
 2. When you don't have a job, you'll appreciate being a bit underpaid too. 
 3. Not all people can take the risk of standing against the organizations. 
 4. Indian labour laws suck and that's why the culture of fair compensation is just a joke. 
 P.s.: Everyone should know their 'market' value and they should always aim for the highest of the range.
