I'm in interview process of Pay2dc india. Wanted to know how is the wlb. Is it really like startup where you have to work long hours?

Heard that Japanese companies have no work life balance.
Not able to find relavant information on the internet as they have recently opened their development center in india.

I’ve been working as a SWE for GE in Bangalore for nearly two years. First of all the WLB and culture here is incredible. I honestly can’t believe how great the WLB is over here, I work maybe 20 hours a week on average and am rarely ever stressed about anything. They’re not strict about WFO so I can chill at home most of the time. No fixed timings and I also get a ton of leaves. There’s no micromanagement and the culture is chill and professional. Perks are about average for any large MNC. We have a beautiful company campus with plenty of car parking space for everyone.

Obviously your mileage may vary depending on the your team, it’s possible I just got lucky.

The only con is that the pay is shit. Fresher SWEs are paid around 12 LPA while seniors might earn around 30. Not possible to earn 60+ unless you’re in a leadership position.

Guys a friend working there told me Kotak Bank is going to cut approx 20 percent of the workforce across all departments. They have already started revoking offer letters. Also they will not be giving increments and bonuses. Tough times ahead. Anyone bearing things from established companies.

Any first hand experience on culture and WLB at Gojek in India? Thanks in advance!

How is the culture at Gojek India? How about Work Life Balance ?

With my small experiences in the past, I haven't seen a good Startup with WLB for SDEs (0-3)yoe.

I want to know whether you work in a startup where there's WLB.

I understand that more work means more learning but I do not agree with this every time. There are way more SDEs working in very very small startups who have humongous learning with a pinch of money they are being paid.


For me WLB means enough time to relax and spend time with my loved ones and also less mental stress.

I have observed that the Leads/Managers will give any features no matter how complex they are, need to be built with 0 to no help specially for SDE-1 people.

And later they are blamed and scolded or they're put in PIP and ultimately thrown out.

What is your experience?

Are there any startups where WLB exists or it's just all about money and doesn't matter even if the employee is no more?

The title says it all.

1. What kind of teams are there? A lot of leaders from Flipkart are there. 

2. How is the WLB?

3. Does one get good design opportunities or it's just work getting shifted from Korean teams to India.

4. There are too many bad reviews on Glassdoor.

How is Coupang India?
