What is a belief you held strongly in your youth that you have since changed your mind about?
Keeping your parents happy is your only duty in life.
Just seeing them sacrifice all their needs for our comfort and education made me very sensitive to their pride. I didnt want to do anything that would harm their pride and peace.
I lived like this for 26 years of my life. Then I went to a residential college for masters. Saw 18 year olds living their life. Realised that I lived my entire life living somebody's "idea of pride and peace".
Started doing things that I loved. Since they were proud of me at that point of time, nothing that I did affected their life. Soo understood that my parents feeling pride in me is not my responsibility, its their own. If i live my life and i am happy, they will be happy. They are happy..... except for the fact that they hate me for wanting to do intercaste love marriage and .. its a looong story...huff.

Not giving a shit about others is the best approach.
I have conditioned myself that way, and now when it doesn't matter to me, I feel I became very different - not exactly in a good way. I feel the balance is very important, extremely important.
Not giving a shit always is not a wise choice at all. (I'm only talking about people outside the close ones - ofc close ones do matter for me as well)
