Forced Resignation: Employee is pressured to quit.  
Termination: Employee is fired for specific reasons like poor performance.

In case of termination the employee is not able to join other organisations so is it the same with lay off?

Lay off, Termination, Dismissal- I have heard these words multiple times, but I don’t know how each one is different from the other. Can anyone on this platform please help? Also, which is worse- getting laid off or getting terminated?

Been hearing this a lot these days where companies are firing a bunch of people and forcing some others to resign, to bring down the severance cost.

What are these situations created by these companies which actually force people to resign?

I see my organisation is being very cautious about the layoff process. They are forcing us to resign instead of them firing us. Also the communication is put out saying we are resigning and serving notice period instead of mentioning severance.

Going through something similar where the management has laid off 1/3rd the total team via forced resignation and without any severance. A bunch of folks who stood up to ask for reasons, severance etc are being threatened with termination and bad experience letter (and even lawsuits)

Could really use your take if you or your colleagues have gone through something similar.

Asked to resign. What are all options do I have?

So I was laid off a couple of months back and the organization was forcing me to resign. I countered their basis of decision and was able to get my severance instead of notice. Further, they were asking me to serve a reduced notice but I opposed saying this is a layoff/termination from organization’s side and was out in a week. As a result they have deliberately put things like “his performance was average” in the experience letter. 

Can someone help me with how to deal with this situation for prospective employers? 

P.S: I do not want to go the legal route with my prev org and want to focus on the next prospects so if any HR in the network can help with some advice, that would be great.

My employment was terminated last month from the organization’s side but they have put things like “his performance was average” & “he left the organization in his own accord” in the relieving cum experience letter. 

I am not much worried about the performance part because I have good experience letters from my past organizations and believe would be the same in case of reference checks.  Should I be worried about these?

Any suggestions on how to move forward with future applications would be helpful.

Hi.

I received a termination letter from my past company. The reason was, I sent my resignation letter from home and responded only when they reached out.

I know I am at fault. Should have sent resignation from office itself. But their punishment seems very harsh. I didn't get a chance to explain myself. 

Wherever I am applying for jobs, getting turned down as I do not have experience letter and relieving letter. Having a termination letter seems to be equal to having a criminal record.

I tried requesting my ex company, but seems they have forgotten my existence, and talked in a rude manner.

Day by day I am losing confidence. Trying my hand at freelancing also, but it would be like starting from zero.

How can I repair my situation. Advice pls.

PS: Humble request to all, no trolling please. Already I am down, don't want to get out.

From what I hear from a friend who is aware of the leadership discussions, MPL might be looking to lay off close to 50% of its workforce and shut down most of its other BU’s to consolidate by October. This would include folks even till the SVP levels. This might be one of the first pins to fall with the 28% GST rule kicking in by October. Dark days ahead for online RMG  industry in India

companies like MPL should not exist in the first place. Why promote gambling?. not for any moral reasons,  if someone wants to gamble, let them go to a casino and do it. Instead, making it easier for some one to gamble at  any time/anywhere is unacceptable.
