Where are other jobs ?

For people around me, I only see IT jobs. Even the non tech are working around IT. Apart from this, there are few people with actuarial/bank/finance jobs but that's it.

I don't remember hearing 'i am a mechanical engineer at this plastic factory' or 'i am a biologist at this research institute' or 'i am working with government as a geologist'.

Is it a bias due to my circle or have other types of jobs vanished or was it always like this ?
