Why can’t I view CCTV footage?

Why can only guards access CCTV of an office/apartment? Why can’t residents/employees have it on-demand without giving a reason or filing a FIR?

Like the previous comment. Invasion of privacy. Usually Incase of theft or any valid reason they will allow it. What if people want to see it just for gossiping?

a. Privact concerns b. Legality is required for office purpose, like how are you going to use that data (i.e your on demand req) and all Not sure about apartment. Also here privacy is shit (since those who are incharge wouldn't care much)
