I'll be joining Navi next month as a fresher. Just heard about the layoffs. How should I proceed in this startup. Should I start preparing for new opportunities or wait almost a year ( if they don't layoffs) for future opportunities? 
Company is doing good at financial terms I guess.

The US is in its late stage capitalist phase, a ship that's going to sink for the next 50 years. If you're a young person there it doesn't make sense to work as hard as your Grandpa the reward on average isn't as great. 

India on the other hand is poised to become a great multi-trillion $ economy.

Onto something huge. We're talking like 10x growth of the economy here.

Start-ups that have made it like Razorpay, Swiggy, PayTM, even Cred, if they survive will be really huge as capital in the country, liquidity and lifestyles go up over the next 50 years. 

Be the capitalist, take the risks, make bets, work and stack up promotions and money.

Don't join an Infosys and work 70 hours there, do it for a start up of any scale you believe is going to make it. Or better yet start your own.

Work hard and build in India 🇮🇳

I'm tired of this bullcrap. India will not keep growing if the US goes under. And all that growth shit is exaggerated. Divide those numbers by our population and it doesn't amount to shit. 
 All your fancy startups don't even combine up in value to even a single big tech company. 
 Yes we are growing but the inflation is also going up. On the whole I barely see any improvement.

Those who lower standards are thieves of potential.

It is challenge that reveals the shape of our talents.

Somehow in india all the product startup’s have adopted the most toxic and worst translation of what it’s being like as a product manager and engineering management. Both these roles have become nothing but fear mongering, power grab, and most being extremely bias towards almost everything. 

So your success is very much dependent on how your manager is and the opportunity that they provide. So if you want to avoid toxicity sooner, it’s the right step rather than stick and fail in the long term. Once again, I am talking based off of my 10 yoe. You may have a different experience and I’d definitely wanna learn more.

Toxic Leadership in Engineering and Product

Engineering management is pure dumb in India for US product companies. Non contributing managers and directors who won't even pass design interviews. These are parasites who'll latch on new host, one of the reasons keeping India down and also talent leaving

Kargil Vijay Diwas. 25 years, man.

Sitting here, staring at my laptop, trying to give a shit about this quarter's numbers. But my mind's somewhere else today.

You know that guy in HR who's always on your case? Or that teammate who stole your idea in the last meeting? Feels like the end of the world sometimes, right?

Then I think about those soldiers in Kargil and every other frontier. Guys our age, probably dreaming about normal stuff - girlfriends, bikes, maybe a cool job. Instead, they're dodging bullets, watching their buddies fall, all for what? So we can sit here and argue over who gets the window seat in the office.

Makes our "problems" look like a joke, doesn't it?

Remember that time you lost sleep over your annual review? Those soldiers lost sleep wondering if they'd see another sunrise.

We stress about meeting targets. They had actual targets on their backs.

Not saying our issues aren't real. They are. But maybe, just maybe, we could cut each other some slack sometimes? That colleague who messed up your presentation - maybe they're dealing with shit we know nothing about.

To those brave souls who never made it back - I don't have the right words. "Thank you" feels hollow, but it's all I've got. Your sacrifice is the reason I can sit here, complain about my boss, and plan my next vacation.

To the families left behind - I can't even begin to imagine your pain. Hope you know that your loved ones' courage hasn't been forgotten.

And to those still bearing the scars, visible and invisible - you deserve way more than just one day of remembrance.

So yeah, next time I'm about to lose it over some office drama or a messed up Excel sheet, I'll try to remember this feeling. Try to be a bit kinder, a bit more patient.

Because at the end of the day, we're the lucky ones. We get to be here, doing our 9-to-5, planning our weekends. All thanks to those who put everything on the line.

A lot of times I have seen people who want to make the big bucks make no effort be it interviewing, up skulking finding the right team, and most importantly finding the right manager. People just want to land any job and assume that they will magically by hook or crook be progressing in their career with significant high fixed salary. But you gotta remember one toxic co worker one bad manager one bad designer one bad stakeholder one bad peer review can decide whether you are getting a refresh grant a bump in base and eventually a promotion. 

First you need to figure this shit out, then comes the next step. Obviously, we can’t function with the same amount of energy all the time like in our 20s in our 30s and in our 40s like 30s, so you must prioritise learning how financial independence works and how to make wealth, I am not saying an unrealistic goal. But realistically how much do you want to grow your net worth considering inflation in order to say this is it and I can stop working for someone else. 

And I have heard many many times about people saying I will wait for this raise, I will wait for this project to finish, I will wait for this 6 months in order to take a break or a vacation. But remember the reality is that time will never come you have to make the time which means planning early not busting your wallet. 

And considering the layoffs and the correction in salaries, it’s high time you must learn and plan these things better in order to provide a better life for you and your family both parents and dependents. 

Stop chasing 100 different things focus on 5, do a few things really good, eventually get to what you’re looking for. 

Wanted to share this as I have heard some random discussions about making 25-50 crore in 10 years easily without any of this. Unfortunately it is not possible unless you luck out.
