Amazon now highlights EMI price at the top, and actual price below.
Anyone knows why they started doing this? Is EMI majority of electronic purchases now?

The trick here is to showcase the affordability.

I'm pretty they won't include the actual costs of the "no cost EMI" in this. Processing fee and GST.
It’s a test variant, probably testing with huge traffic during sale. It’s annoying and deceptive.

That's what the banks want too. And it gives more chance of attracting gullible and stupid people who can't afford it on MRP.
I had almost promised a extravagantly priced Dyson hairdryer as a gift to my Fiance. But, my Fiance was sensible enough to notice it and question me, whether I was mad. Later I realised this stupid UX.
Bajaj mall (e-commerce of bajaj finance) was the first one to do this. Imo its really bad for people , but great for companies

It's like asking why did the parent tell the child life gets easier as you get older. It's a lie but it sounds good to hear.
Maybe they're running some a/b test, it still shows the full price to me in bold
