How important is a BTech Degree?

My brother is in great confusion if he should take a loan just to study btech and get an average job of 4LPA or if he should enroll on a normal degree course and focus on building side skills and knowledge , he use to do freelancing stuff and internship in designing and all The confusion is that there is always hard work no matter what line you go, he is good at adapting and working on situations now though whatever he chooses he needs to go all in , just as a suggestion needed to know what are your take on the matter , how would some of you handle and take steps ???

Disclaimer this is not a rant or this has nothing to put in bad way someones hard work. With so many ppl making tutorials and selling courses online, I had my few observations. I welcome ppl to join on this discussion with their point of views as well. The most important things is you need a solid company name on your resume, doesn’t matter what work you might have done there. Everyone knows the meatiest work in google is done at west coast office(just an example). This gives you the starting point, I would not disagree to the fact that these guys put on the hard work to crack the interviews, but that doesn’t mean you start selling a dream to everyone. It will be like what harshad mehta did to his clients during the days. If a person is working in some unknown company and even though the person teaches really well, I bet there will be hardly any takers for his/her course. Teaching is an art as per me, not everyone can be a great teacher. There are some good ones out there but majority of them don’t fall under above category. I would say they are social media influencers with a bit of tech knowledge. We have already lost a generation with rot learning and now with the rise of these ppl, the day is not far way when a person aceing the interview knows jack shit when given an actual problem to solve at workplace.

I'm about to graduate as a B.Tech (CS) grad this year. I have a full time offer at the moment and joining is in June. My question is this: I hear from people to go for M.Tech after 1-2 years of industry experience. Is it a good decision to leave a job to do an M.Tech after atleast 2 years of working in the industry? And also will an M.Tech degree help my career in any way? Preferably in terms of better job opportunities in the future? I really want to understand more about this.

I have three younger cousins. They don't want to code. They have their clarity. They don't want to pursue any particular engineering stream as well. They want to get a decent paying job. Let's say 6-8 lpa start with a path to 15-20 lpa in 4-5 years. I tried advising them to not invest a lot of money and four years of time in engineering. Their family is average middle class financially. I told them that I'll advise you what all to learn like content writing, seo, data analytics etc. So do a simple course, save money and rather invest in something that matters for job. They did listen but did not get confidence to act. All three went for engineering stream. These are private colleges with tier 3ish names. Now they don't get time to put a lot of time because 8-4 is usually college time. Unlike tier 1,2 college where you get campus and a lot of freedom, the colleges usually have a lot of classes and compulsory 80% type attendance. Did you face similar situation? What did you advise? Do you think I was giving them right decision?

Hey everyone, happy to answer any questions around Data Science/ML/AI and making a career within it A brief about me, I work currently as a Sr. ML Engineer at an Indian unicorn startup I graduated 5+ years ago and have since worked as a Data Scientist / ML Engineer at an ecommerce company and social media company. My designations have changed based on the industry requirements and work too changed based on that. I do not know where our junior generation is going in future, Today i was leaving for work and scrolling YouTube coming to my nearby office and found a video of a BITS dropout, which was literally annoying as I found himself dropping out of BITS as he got good clickbait views and was running a marketing agency, which i still doubt is profitable and has a lot of kids following him and commenting as Bhaiya and god and all I have a few queries which i want to ask or solve. I am posting them here so i can get an answer. Do the colleges calling them do not do a background check on the people as they are inspiration for someone and all? In my times, i had seen Ramanan sir and Valtar sir, who public knew as legends in their fields but now i do not find any value in his content Secondly, is it really worth dropping from BITS as content goes viral? spending lakhs of fathers hard-earned money just to get views and depending on YouTube as i was about to drop out in 2nd year and my mother kept her jewels to continue my fees at peak of covid time Thirdly, talking on freelancing, I know its lucrative but over hyping HTML earning 32 LPA as per his videos is over hype. As I talk to people who freelance with their jobs, it's not stable, and most companies think to accept it as an experience, just as part-time money, which is fine I have few queries on his content., Please solve my doubts Dropping out of BITS after your tube gets hit Inspiring others to drop out, wasting their hard-earned money, Creating FOMO among school kids as they did not do anything, Over hyping freelancing without telling Dark sides of it, Showing off as their life are better in Bangalore , making others mindset bad, I really doubted when I saw him having 1M literally stunned genuine people not getting views and quality community while drop out people are misguiding people as shit. Can anyone tell if BITS is really authentic or it is just because of some people?
