Silent layoffs
Hearing of silent layoffs at Make my Trip, Flipkart and so many other companies. What are some of the ways in which these tech cos are silently firing people so they can avoid a bad headline?
One team in India is getting shut down, but not explicitly. Managers favorites were already told about this and few already switched teams recently (rumour is that one of them took pay cut), some are already let go by silent firing, some are informed yesterday, few are yet to be informed but I guess it will just be a few more days.
3 options were given to those informed yesterday, either voluntarily put down paper, or enter into pip for next 2 months (they were told that, even if they succeed pip, they will be given low ratings in coming appraisal and will be put on pip again), or take the option of pivot where you get some lumpsum. In the 2nd and 3rd option you cannot come back to Amazon again.
Based on popular knowledge, before putting people to pip, they will be put on Focus, which didn't happen for these people, they are straightaway given these options.
Worst part, few were forced to change cities and come to base location in the last few months and the same team is hiring in the US actively.
Nobody asked me for this Do not blame me for everything

There have been some rumors and isolated reports of layoffs in Amazon India. Is there any truth to the story? If so, which teams have been impacted / are likely to be impacted?
