Should I move from a product MNC to a service based startup ?
I feel like I am not growing in my current role at all, also the pay is better, would this be a good step?
I worked at a reputed fintech org for 3yrs (started as fresher), then approached my own startup full time, failed, and joined another startup.
Work culture at this newly joined startup was extremely bad (6.5days work, 12hrs a day). So I just resigned. Switched my LinkedIn status to open for work.
Recently got contacted by a company, paying handsomely (32LPA, which is great for me). It's a New Zealand based org, which promised me a good work culture and good quality of work. Only one problem.... it's a service based company.
I don't know for sure, but I have heard a lot that once you work at a service based company, product based orgs won't consider you. Basically issue is, if I join them, will it make switching for next job more difficult?
I know there is no definite answer, I am just counting votes.
Joining a service-based company won’t limit product-based opportunities if you build strong, transferable skills. Focus on delivering impactful results and showcasing expertise. If the offer provides good pay, culture, and growth, it’s worth considering. Long-term, skills matter more than company type.
