Not getting good quality work as a Software Engineer

Hi Folks I'm graduated in 2023 from a Tier 3 College with 7LPA at a startup I'm working here in automation but framework is company built and I'm feeling like I'm learning nothing I want to switch to dev But these DSA and everything scare me I'm good to nothing And I don't see a scope in Quality Engineering And I have a student loan to pay of its of sum around 8 Lakhs I want to switch to a high paying job Because I live with my family I pay rent 15k Sister takes care of groceries and stuff I need high pay job but I feel I'm good to no where What should I do please, tell me how to handle stuff Sometimes I panic and cry alone Need your suggestion please will matter a lot to me 🙏

I am a software engineer with 3 years of experience .For the first two initial years I was working as a QA in one of the good product companies with a very sorted work life balance . I had recently switched to a BE role in a startup I am very much lagging behind here because of my QA background ,the people here are very much talented and are great problem solvers .How do I reach that level ? I have been struggling to keep up with the pace here and finding it difficult to approach the tasks,even though i have been giving so much of time to work . And the TL in my team have a certain amount of expectations and hence they don't help according to that .(which i feel is fair) How should I approach this and level up here Anyone with a similar background and story please share your experience :) Any advice would really help

Hello folks, This is a call for every software engineer and broader community. I’m a 30 year old customer support employee who worked at Airtel, MPL, Wazirx and I have 5 years of total experience all things customer support. About a year ago, laid off at Wazirx due to crypto taxes and regulations and it’s been an uphill battle to find a steady job in the market. Did few freelance jobs but nothing is working out. I’m at a point where I’m unable to even get by on monthly basis. I’m a Engg dropout as well, so no degree, no real top notch experience to land other roles. I finally decided to have a crack at software jobs and pivot to whole new field. I have few queries, if anyone can find some time and answer them, it would mean the world to me 1. Do I need a degree to land software roles ? 2. To pivot to coding roles ( no prior experience), where should i start ? 3. There’s an ocean of misinformation out there, I’m really confused on where to start and which courses to take up? ( Planning to take up Phyton ) 4. Can coding help to land freelance jobs ( I know it’s difficult and takes time to reach good enough of a level but I’m willing to work hard and put the hours in ). 5. I know companies doesn’t bet on candidates without a degree but what’s the best way to approach this scenario? Thanks a lot for your time for answering these queries. Highly appreciated 🙏🏼

Hey fellow devs, I'm a software engineer and I'm getting tired of the disconnect between the skills recruiters expect and the skills actually required for the job. In my daily work, I solve problems that are mostly straightforward and don't require extreme problem-solving skills. But whenever I apply for a new role or get approached by recruiters, they always ask for "expert-level" problem-solving abilities, even when the product or service doesn't seem to demand it. It feels like they're looking for someone to solve world hunger, when in reality, the job is more about maintaining and improving existing systems. Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just being too salty, or is this a real phenomenon? Share your thoughts fellow devs.

I have been working as a software developer for the past 4 years mostly on startups. Pay is good(top 10%) no issues while working everything good in work life no problems. But there is always a feeling that I am not good at basic understanding of development I feel it is because I didn't go to any IIT or any other major colleges or didn't study for any particular exams. I just learned everything by doing it not by preparing beforehand. There is fear that maybe that's not always enough which makes me a little bit afraid of giving interviews of big tech companies. So I am not able to decide where I should go from here. Should I start with masters or should I just learn everything I can from basics to have a solid understanding or maybe some other path.

I am working as SDE 1 in a good Indian startup. It's getting toxic day by day. Late night workings like 3AM and working on weekends is normalised like anything. Since I am new to IT ( no sort of politics never) and have almost 2.5 Years of experience, I am facing issues in getting credits. Last appraisal cycle in January, I was nominated for promotion but wasn't given to me, reason: you have not worked with architect and he was making decisions. In that case, architect should have been distributed tasks to us. one SDE3 is leading one of the projects ( not a big one ) and manager/architect is not much interested and never join any standup or retro, I have contributed immensely to that. Now since it is completely driven by sde 3 , he takes updates from us and show his work infront of seniors and director + announces like his work and seldom we get thank you in threads. Like if you did one function or wrote complete flow, for both thank you. Because of all these reasons, my work is not getting recognised. There is no one in team to help in this. Whenever a manager or Architect show cases some features or release, it's pretty evident that his team has done it but when a sde 3 does it, it is not the same. It conveys the message all or 90% work is done by him. I would like to take some suggestions from my seniors and fellow mates here. Hierarchy - sde 1-2-3-4-EM I can't leave or switch right now due to some critical persona reasons.

I am currently working as Frontend developer (NextJS) (React). I have 1.5+ YOE . Recently i have started applying in different companies for FE role but none of them reverted back to me except 1 startup (that was in very early stage) I want to switch because - 1. Salary is less (9lpa). 2. Here they only focus on new features not code quality and optimization. 3. I want to work on scale

Im getting a little frustrated. I'm good a development, and I can be better, but right now I'm focusing on DSA. I have done around 250+ quality questions on leetcode. Tech stack I know and write in resume Reactjs, Nodejs, NextJs, Docker, Kafka, Redis, Postgresql, MySQL, Javascript, Typescript, Java I took resume reviews, and they are mostly very positive. Still I'm not getting any interview calls, and No-one has asked me any DSA yet. Feeling a bit frustrated and directionless
