Change of Culture

I have noticed that whenever you're hanging out with friends or at a corporate party, if you choose not to drink, people often tease or pull you down for it, calling you a kid. Just a few years back, when we were growing up, alcohol was often seen as something negative, yet now it’s so normalized that anyone who chooses not to drink is made to feel out of place or immature.

It's not your problem, so don't give a f**k about it, even my colleague sometimes laughed at me for not drinking it in the past, I asked them to give me a proper reason and i will start ,and if you fail to do so,you have to stop, then they go speechless πŸ˜…

I have been in office parties where everyone like 15-20 guys including VP directors etc, is having some drink or another and I am the only one with a glass of water. I don't care what people have to say, in a few years you change company and they all are replaced. Maintain your character, remember "when character is lost everything is lost"

Then your environment is a problem.

But agree that it's getting way more normalized than it should be.
Your mileage may differ.

I think the environment is the same for every non-drinker/smoker out there.

Ask them that if you mix a small amount of poison in their drink, will they drink itπŸ˜„

They feel guilty for drinking alcohol when someone from the group chooses not to drink and that's why they try to convince you by teasing you πŸ™ƒ

I think it's not guilt which makes them convince others, it's more of a human tendency to make everyone like us.

Bro don't succumb to external forces and validations, self-confidence is everything.
I dance harder than the drunk folks at parties, leaving people surprised.

For me it's dance, for you it can be something even better, eg. become a super storyteller and no one will ignore you, they will instead invite you more.

Utilise your strengths, carry yourself with pride, nothing can affect you.

I think it's more like they think they are way too restricted and reserved and without alcohol they can't connect with people, My friends know I'm super fun even without drinks so they have never pushed me for one but yeah they keep saying to have a sip or so! So once I took the glass and pretended to drink though I was having sprite but told them it was vodka and made a scene in my full consciousness and afterwards none of my friends ever dared to offer me a drink.

I simply tell them, if you can’t control your own habits like drinking or smoking, how will you be able to manage a team and prevent them from underperforming? 🀣

How to hang out with people without smoking or drinking ?

I have recently stopped smoking and I never liked drinking anyways. Do you think there’s a way to hang out and network with people without doing these things?

I guess I am against most of people who live in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai or any tier 1 2 cities. Why is there so much addiction to smoke, party culture and losing our own moral values? I guess a pack of cigar cause anywhere between 100...
