Unpopular opinion
I guess I am against most of people who live in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai or any tier 1 2 cities. Why is there so much addiction to smoke, party culture and losing our own moral values? I guess a pack of cigar cause anywhere between 100 to 200 and weekend party anywhere perhead to 2000. If you sum up I see that it goes to 10k overhead. Dont you think that money can go into useful way of either personal development or contributing giving back to the society? What are we losing here and where are the moral values that are taught to us going? To add on so much hookups and adult life. There is nothing to gain but so much to lose I guess. Please add your opinions...
You are right. You are able to think for yourself and don't succumb to peer pressure.
Congrats on that btw.
But many people don't stop to think..they are just cattle herd following what everyone is doing and social media has made it much worse.
They all will be suffering 10 years down the line. They just don't know yet.
Partying is okay smoking is not.
And giving back to society...... Well I pay 30% tax+15-20% indirect tax. That much should be fine for society.
In fact, the higher up you go the ladder, the more you're contributing to society.
Simply answer is peer pressure. People who go for smoking breaks with the manager get favourable treatment. If you don't attend office parties you are seen as an outlier, someone who will quit the company.
On the hookups and shit, people are horny and bored.
Root cause of these activities are excess use of personal choice, people tend to do anything and everything in the veil of personal choice irrespective of moral values.
You are correct and just because people around you are doing things they shouldn't that doesn't mean you have to practice all this nonsense.
I am also against these bad habits of smoking, drinking etc and I donot engage with those who practice these also I donot attend office parties. Ofcourse all this comes with a price - not getting top ratings, not having enough friends, but I am happy with my decisions. I'd rather be alone than be with the people I don't want to spend time with. Things are going to worsen..
