[Controversial] Parents' gen arrange marriages - Mom's father had money, our father had degrees

The vision of working from scratch to build wealth has made so many families be in middle class Dowry also pushed families from wealthy to working class Raising kids as frustrated, tired individuals - Such a shitty arrangement imo

Hmm.. why does this sound so familiar. In process of AM and talking to few prospects where the girl’s family is rich whereas as I have tier-1 degrees and a high paying job.

still happening to some extent in arrange marriages. though dowry cases are coming down a lot, still marriages in india are treated as grand occasion and burn a big hole in pockets of both the sides.

Marriage as a concept is rigged. girl’s family demanding the payslips of men. guy’s family wanting a sanskari bahu. not checking if they are compatible with each other, imposing 60+ old ideology to this generation.

People in current generation looking for situation-ship, hookups than actually committing to one person and trying to make things right.

Most marriages are becoming transactional. divorce cases are getting increased day by day. the thought of choosing a wrong partner scares most of us.
