Sometimes I feel proud but I hate it when Govt misuses it to do stupid things like relaying roads every few months. It's open ended bribery and stealing

The problem in India is that we are not getting quality public service for the taxes we are paying compared to Nordic countries.

Only reason people have paid taxes over the course of human history is to keep the barbarians at the gate. Try not paying taxes, we'd have a revolution, french revolution style, where all the elites were chopped and put on pikes.

You want to peacefully enjoy your riches? You want be left alone? Care about the physical integrity of your body? Pay taxes. Whenever societies were not able to distribute some wealth, elites paid with their necks.

Every time I step out of home and see giant potholes I curse the government for wasting my hard earned money.

Happy to give taxes but hate it when you get 3rd class facilities in return

You can donate money to political parties at 0 percent but have to pay taxes when you purchase house, medicines etc. Definitely house seems more important than some political party’a election campaign.

I don't see my tax rupee working at all. I pay 7 figure income tax per year and on top of that other indirect taxes. The road around my house is full of pot holes, traffic signals rarely work and mostly importantly when a VIP convoy passes carrying a person who does not even pay 3 figured tax and I end up waiting I feel the loss of every penny I have paid as taxes. However that has never stopped me from paying tax on time. But I cannot avoid this feeling.

I'd feel proud if the taxes I paid actually showed improvement in infra, healthcare, etc. I know there are lots of projects done but I still feel at least 50% of the taxes are going into pockets of corrupt people.

So I hate having to pay taxes on everything - income, investments, gifts, trips, goods and services, food, even my mandir donation is going into govt coffer.
