Don't bother interview with AccelData

This was my pathetic interview experience with Acceldata india with a very unprofessional and lying recruiter. This story has a satisfying ending.

I attended 6 rounds of interviews in 1 month and completed a take home assignment. I cleared all the rounds and even had a manager discussion about my onboarding. All good so far.

Few days later the recruiter called back and said we need one more round (8th round) with the director who sits in US office. I said Ok and he scheduled this call on a Friday 10pm at night.

At 9:55pm I tried to join the meeting link he sent but the link was not working. I tried in different browsers, different laptop, different internet connection. No luck.

So I reached out to recruiter on mobile and he doesn't pick up. I know he's available because he was on call with someone else. I even tried reaching him via a different phone number but still no luck. Imagine the anxiety and panic I had to go through since I felt that it was my fault.

On, next day he casually calls me in the morning to say that "Sorry I tried calling you 2 days ago but your mobile was unreachable (which is a plain lie). He says he cancelled the meeting because he found another candidate with lower salary.

That's fine, and I don't give a damn at this point. But I asked why didn't he send meeting cancelled email so I didn't have to panic on a friday late night. He casually says "Sorry about that". That's the last I hear of him. No response after that.

All this after going through 8 rounds of interviews and a take home assignment. All because this a--hole recruiter lied to my face and couldn't send a simple email.

Funny thing is: Another recruiter reached out to me 3 months later for the same role. Apparently the candidate they hired instead of me backed out at the last miniute. 🤣

If you get a chance to interview at AccelData, trust me, please don't waste your time. The company and the recruiting practises are not worth your time, even if you are jobless.

Similar story a top Indian listed fintech did to me back in 2022. After 7 rounds with three different teams, HR said they selected another candidate. I was disappointed but let it go. Managed to clear interviews and received offer from another company. Couple of weeks later HR called saying the role is open. So I accepted and asked them to send offer letter. As soon as I received the letter, I sent a rejection mail and blocked the HR.

I know it’s not a good thing to do but this is the only way you can teach these shit HRs a lesson.

Done. ❌
Can we have a list of such companies to plainly ignore them?

Slice should be in that list.
Others please add!

I have a way worst experience with DigitalOcean. I'm not mad at the company but the recruiter had the audacity to ask me to take a 40% paycut saying he doesn't have the budget. He claimed that I should be greatful to work in such an amazing company and that salary shouldn't be my concern.

I conveyed that I wasn't interested. Then the guy called me 1 month later to ask if I changed my mind and if I was willing to take lower salary.
Apparently, he searched for a month and couldn't find any candidate within his budget.

Something similar to me happened too. Initially one HR reached out to me we had discussion like this my current CTC and I'm expecting this much.
I went through 5 rounds and after that one new HR comes in HR round and says previous one is not feeling well so she'll be taking this round. She asks me again what is my expectations and I said we have already discussed this.

When I told her that I'm looking for this much she says that they don't have the budget for it. I was at my peek for saying f**k you. As I went through 5 rounds only because the first HR didnt have any issue with the package.

She said that she needs some time to discuss it with the team and she'll let me know. This was Friday and I hear no communication till Monday from her.

Suddenly on Monday she calls and says that 1 round got missed due to some issue and I'll have to give this round.

I was mad but I was giving interviews at that time so I said okay sure!
I was only 1 yr experienced at that time and I was only asking for 7-8 lpa as my current CTC at that time was 5.2 lpa.

I gave that interview and trust me there were no questions which were suited for 1 yoe candidate. I was laughing throughout the interview thinking Bhai seedha bol dete nhi hire karna h 🤣

Next day HR calls and says we cannot give you what you asked for but we can give you 5.5 lpa offer.

I said thank you, bbyee 🤣

I don't understand if they already have the budget and know the candidate's expectation. If it doesn't come in their budget why not specify the same at that point itself?

Why to make one go through all those round only to find you they don't have a budget suddenly ?

Similar thing happened to me at The 1% Club. I applied for the Head of Engineering position, cleared all 5 rounds. I was selected for the position and HR started my onboarding process. I was asked to send all of my documents, including my PAN, Aadhar, pay Slips and offer letter of previous company (these were mandatory as per the HR). After receiving my details, they ghosted me for a week. I get a call after saying they have decided to go with someone else because the other candidate is "superior technically". They didn't mention how exactly was he technically superior than me as I felt my interviews went really well. When I asked how superior, their answer was "you were number 2 in our list". I had started looking for flats as the position was in Mumbai. They completely played me with zero empathy. I would suggest avoid them. Their HR doesn't know how to deal with candidates.

Technically superior is just code for "He accepted lower competition than you".
If the recruitment is this bad, I can only imagine how the company is on the inside.

IDFC First bank. Interviewed and received an offer letter. Started onboarding formalities and later the onboarding agent said your previous company's relieving documents are not valid. After sending salary slips, resignation letter, relieving letter all signed from HR, the onboarding agent said these are informal documents not valid for onboarding. I had to take back my resignation and looked like a fool in front of my manager.

How can a resignation letter not be valid? What were they expecting, the CEO tweeting that you've resigned?

Lol. I submitted 2 letters. One was relieving and the other resignation. Duly signed and stamped. The onboarding agent asked email confirmation from previous HR I have resigned. When I went to the HR of previous org, they said they have already issued resignation and relieving and won't entertain any extra email requests on top of that. I was stuck in between.
