Work from Anywhere

I have a job that offers a permanent WFH. I am not married and want to spend the next 12 months working out of different places around the country. Looking for suggestions where I can

  1. Work for 8-10 hrs, 5 days a week
  2. Good WiFi
  3. Healthy homemade food

  1. Kalgha - its a small village in himachal, very peaceful as you have to trek 15-20 mins to get there and there is no motorable road, vvv beautiful, food is amazing. Stay in homestays and owner aunties will you cook super yummy home food. I worked from there for 10 days and never faced network issues. Still, carry a jiofi as a backup. Also, there are other villages nearby where I havent been but have heard good things about them. Pulga, Tulga, Tosh.

  2. South goa - Chill vibes, far more peaceful than north goa, perfect workation vibes and you have beaches around if you wanna party a bit.

  3. Kodaikanal - Haven’t been there but my friends worked from there for a couple of weeks. Zostel is amazing. Mesmerising views, pleasant weather, nice home style food.

Kalgha- No motorable roads to the trekking places I assume? Any recommendations on good stays?

You can reach barshaini via cab. From there you have to trek for 15-20 mins to Kalgha village. Its very easy trek and porter bhaiyas are available if you are uncertain about trekking with your luggage. They will carry your luggage for a nominal cost. Also, pack a rucksack instead of a trolley bag. It will be easier for you to explore nearby places.

I don’t remember the name of the stay, it was a random homestay. Book a hostel for initial days and then find a homestay according to your vibe after you reach there. One advice though, stay away from Romani cafe 😂. Very effed up place.

Its a small village and almost every house is a homestay and cafe. Kalgha has a welcoming vibe, just stay away from hostels that play deafening music(there are a couple of such hostels)

would you be going alone or with some other friends? I am in a company with complete WFH too, and I am planning to go somewhere like this too but I don't want to go alone as all my friends do have wfo🥲

Possibly alone, depending on others plan is too much of an expectation in life. Given I have Wfh, I don't wanna look back and regret that I didn't make the best use of it

I want to do something like this too, but I have too much social anxiety to pull this off 😅

Gangtok is absolutely lovely, the whole of Sikkim actually. Shimla is no more livable unless you're in the outskirts visiting mall occasionally.

Goa is always good but some times too hot for comfort.

Yeah seems like Goa and more specifically South Goa is a favourite here

Mine happened by chance TBH. But there are a few companies that are still remote. Paytm, Swiggy, BrowserStack, HT Labs, Groww (partial I think), Pocket FM

If you are open to travelling outside, Thailand and Bali are great options. Should not be very expensive.

Checkout remoteindian slack community too.

stay at home only and save money😅

Did that for 2 years, realised while money is imp, time and experiences are more important. I have my own place and I make decent money, so at the least I can spend on travel what people spend on rent every month
