Have a HR started aggressively cross questioned your choice to bag multiple offers? How did you handle.

I was looking for my 2nd offer on top of an existing one & this HR, cross questioned me like why am I searching for another one and that it is not fair and all.

I didn’t have much time so I simply rejected him saying it wont work between us because of his aggressive attitude and ended the phone call.

Doesn’t HRs take multiple interviews simultaneously? So what exactly gives them right to ask us. Plus the only way to get a decent hike these days is to negotiate via multiple offers. Why be such prude in first place and create this culture by offering peanuts.

How would you have handled this case?

Just tell them you are interviewing at other places simultaneously and that you liked their company/profile/people so you are interested to recieve an offer. Then cite you already have another offer and you believe your skills/exp has so and so market value and if they give you a reasonable offer you would accept it. HRs whole job is to save money. Always negotiate if it works out cool, if it doesn't then just move on. Ideally always try to ask for compensation at the very start so as not to waste time of both parties.

Thanks for the advice, definitely rephrasing this to why the recruiters company seems a better fit and more aligned towards my interests and career trajectory can be helpful.
