Hey fellows from product design! How does one transition from a mediocre company to a unicorn startup with a great culture and a great Pay?

I am a product designer with just 6 months of exp now in a product company. My pay her is 8LPA. And the worklife balance here sucks. I'm always working overtime.

How do I join unicorn startups with great pay? Should I have to create impact in my current work and talk about it? Or do a personal project? And how much hike can I ask for?

Often times the solution to a problem is to just work through it. Since you have only 6months of work experience, it’d suggest to atleast complete 1-1.5 years at your org and then look for a change. Every job and company teaches you something, and if they are the worst then thats also a learning experience that one has to go through. Trust me there is no good unicorn/ mnc/ company where work and culture conditions are great. Each role will have some or the other issue. I have worked across independent designers, startups, mncs, agencies- all kinds of workplaces - and most things are out of your control. So my advice will be keep your head down and just go through it to atleast complete a year. Good luck

Glad to be of help! I know its easier said than done, however since I’m also going through something similar in my US based MNC with 5 YOE, so thought I’d share my view of how we’re all in the same boat 😝
