I needed an employment letter for travel to schengen countries.. I booked my tickets for july 12 and all the itinerary along with it.
I pinged my HR on 15th may for an employment letter. And it took her almost 12 days to draft it. And this is despite me telling her I need it ASAP and pinging her every day for the same.
Just annoyed AF.. My old firm would get it to me in a day.. How long does it actually take to draft a letter!!
Should have escalated to their bosses. 24-48 hrs is maximum waiting for urgent matters
I'm just worried things might get sour with HR. I mean they have the power to screw you as long as you are with the firm! 🥲
HRs work just like other departments. If one HR comes with panga, escalation works there as well. Talk to your manager and say that HR is messing with you.
Once I had to travel to US and our HR was supposed to give me approval to buy forex. It is a big org, we had our own forex agent who would need a token HR letter to sell me Forex. She didn't send me that letter after 3 reminders & 2 days before travel. I spoke to my group head who escalated the matter to manager of the HR. Ideally, if possible, do something similar. You should not escalate to HR's manager directly, at least in big org, there are lot of things. HR can indeed screw you up or at least create hardships for you.
The thing is if it's an official trip, you can escalate.. I'll be travelling for pleasure.. I'm kinda frustrated with the damn thing.. The consulate wants a stamped copy and not a docu-signed copy and now I'm begging again.. Literally begging
