How should I ask for salary hike if they are replacing my manager with me

So since past few days, I'm getting feeling that they are going to sack my manager and are going to promote me to his level. They have already started sharing sheets with me whose access I didn't had earlier. It's a team of 6-7 designers, and I'm senior among them. Now, if they promote me toh manage this team, how should I ask for hike? What important things should I highlight so that I can make a good case for myself? Should I let them give me additional responsibilities and wait till june-July for appraisal? Appreciate all suggestions

Couple of things that you need to consider:

  1. Why are they sacking your manager- if it’s to save costs, you’re not going to get same/similar salary
  2. Understand what additional responsibilities you’ll inherit.
  3. How important is this team/role foe business success. If the answer is yes, you can negotiate a salary hike. But most likely it will be a higher bonus and not fixed salary.
  4. You might also set some goals with your new manager; if you achieve it, you get a mid-year raise. This is a good opportunity but also a lot of eyes will be on you.
  5. You can also ask for things that can hell you in your role; eg. a paid course which will help you in your role.
  6. A promotion usually comes with a raise, but in these cases they defer the raise for a year to see if you’re up to the role.

All the best.

Also be prepared to take on your manager’s responsibilities without a promotion. That is also common.

It's simple, friend. Show them your worth, your contributions. Don't shy away from saying, 'Extra work, extra pay'. Be brave, be bold. Sabka time aata hai!

Maybe they are promoting you because they want someone to lead at your current salary. Better be prepared for that scenario as well

Have the talk, keep it casual.

You'll know, at least, if you should wait till June-July

Should I ask for a salary hike?

I know I deserve more, as I have been constantly delivering more than what's expected out of me. But I still feel - I'm not compensated well for my hard-work and skill.

My take-home is 20+LPA, and I have 6 yrs of experience.

How to ask for a promotion/hike mid year?

Hi folks, I’m grossly underpaid and my work output + impact warrants a promotion and a fat hike imo. But being told that this is not possible mid year. What can I do to make it happen? Haven’t had a proper conversation regarding this wit...
