How to deal with this co worker

I have joined this new company Individually contribute and work with folks onsite. I report to a manager who have multiple projects There is this guy who is like 3-4 yrs experience but behaves like he is the boss when manager isn't around

Ruins standups every day with digressions and lengthy non sensical updates

He started trying overpower me with some nasty remarks

Everybody is fed up with him, With holds information, Treated interns as shit Even seniors are troubled but don't confront aggressively

Got to know one of the recent left employee has reprimanded him and also shared the conflict with higher ups

They are saying no use as he behaves well with manager and his manager

I literally want to confront him and say to behave and act professionally

With his snarky remarks some of my days going bad Being 11 years experience I feel so frustrated that I am still facing these narcissists

Please advise how to treat this prick in a good way and stop worrying

Ps I am all ok with years of experience always feel good work place is major contribution for any ones win

First befriend him, and then say things politely, he may understand if he is unknown of his behavioral impact

That's where others kind of failed My observation
He takes it for granted if we are friendly
One of a kind , I kept him away for the same reason but still trys to interfere with

I may sound unprofessional but see this if following can help. If he is a male, and younger then take him out for chai-sutta or something, just to try to mention and make him understand that what people think of him behind his back, kindly don't mention any one name but make sure the message is understood. I have personally tried this and found it to be a very handy trick. Make sure you are polite enough and no one's name is spoiled.

My personal experience says that, such talks make people know about their behaviour impact. The only reason I understand is that he just wants to show off himself and make himself a contributor to a project or company.

If a person is a female, I don't have anything to say here that I have never faced such instances.

Hope this helps @UnkemptMelon

@just find out who are of same opinion as you talk to them separately..once it's done ..send a mail to manager collectively on everyone's behalf to have discussion around this ...I guess collective effort will do some trick...but this should be last approach before this try to addresss personally and make him feel what people are talking behind his back
