How's Zeta work culture and WLB?

A friend of mine has recently landed a PM role at Zeta. How is the culture and WLB?

Also, if anyone knows the notice period? I read online but found nothing. Any insights would be helpful

I worked at Zeta in 2022 for 11 months. I don't want to say which team but it's not product. Although i worked with PMs a lot.

Cons:

  1. A very top-down approach. Whatever the CTO/CEO says goes without question. If you built a product feature for 1 month and if CTO sees it and says it's a no-go then its a no-go. You have to drop everything no questions asked.

  2. Immense work pressure everyday. I worked with the HDFC project and it was a nightmare. People would Flock me in the middle of the night asking me to work on something urgent. It's the same for every team.

  3. I've seen PMs scared to get on a call with the CTO because of the fear of getting their product being rejected.

  4. No WFH. It's 5 days onsite. If you chose bangalore you will either be put in Domlur or Whitefield. And you will have no say in it.

  5. DevOps engineers were the best people whom I've worked with briefly. But they are often too exhausted everyday due to extreme work pressure.

  6. Remember HDFC is a client and partner to Zeta. So if you are put in this team you will feel that the work culture is kinda like the MNCs.

  7. Outdated HR tools. They took 3 months to settle my FNF after leaving. Ironically their line of work is fintech.

  8. All the above points would indicate that it's very difficult to maintain a healthy Work-Life balance.

Pros:

  1. Really good starting salary. Ask for more when you join. And they will give joining bonus with 1 year lockin.

  2. Decent hikes. Most of my team got around 15% to 25% hike when I worked there.

  3. Decent budget for offsites once a year. Your team can choose to spend on any travel locations.

  4. You will gave to do a lot of things on your own everyday. Which indirectly makes you better and skilled in the area you work. This is very useful when you search for other jobs.

  5. Really good onboarding on first day. Zeta is a complex ecosystem and a suite of multiple products. The onboarding team did a fantastic job explaining all of it.

  6. No mass layoffs so far. They hire one person to do two jobs. Hence the high salary. But that also ensures they don't do layoffs. However, performance based firing is common like every other companies.

  7. Rewards and recognition happens every year and it is grand. Provided if your manager recognises your work and recommends you for the award.

Remember, I worked there in 2022 and I left because of the work pressure like I mentioned. Things maybe different now. Do talk to someone via LinkedIn. All the best.
