Ibm notice period issue

I resigned recently and proposed date of 30days. I know that it's officially 90days. So i talked to my manager. He said he Will get back to me. I again send a reminder mail to check into this. Without replying to that mail, they rejected my proposed dqte and approved fo 90days

What to do now? I am actually in active project from 2years and it extended for another 6months . They didn't even consider my extra leaves and buy out.

What options do i have

The 90 days notice period in IBM is mandatory. It is at your manager’s discretion to allow you a 30 days notice period, depending on the situation or a genuine requirement. However, if a person is involved in an active project, they may not accept a shorter notice period. The person would be required till the completion of the project or, until certain milestones are met. The decision about the notice period would be indicated in the "Notice Period Action" field in the mail received by you from the HR at IBM. Since it mentions 90 days being approved, you would have to maintain the required notice period.

IBM is a multinational company known for its hardware and software products. If you are willing to join IBM for a short stint, then you should know that the notice period in IBM is 90 days. There have been instances wherein HR rejected the request for a reduced notice period for many employees. However, it really depends on your manager. If you can convince your manager to reduce your notice period, you may exit earlier. Also, it would help if you are not a part of any active projects. In this case, neither HR nor your manager would benefit from considering extra leaves or buyouts.

The usual notice period in IBM is 90 days. There are some cases where employees are released early. If you have all your leaves intact, you can negotiate an early release. It may also depend on the manager and the workload whether they can allow you to serve a 30 days’ notice period or not. Usually, a 90-day notice period can be reduced to 60 days. But, if you want a 30-day notice period you can go for the buy-out option. If that doesn’t work also, it is better you serve the notice period for the time they are offering.

So it goes like this... People manager asks your manager if you are a critical resource for the ongoing project. Do they have replacement for you. If you are a critical resource and no replacement you manager signals people manager to keep you as long as possible.
