Importance of Aesthetics

How much importance do you give to aesthetics in your life? We are lagging behind in aesthetics compared to many developed countries. Why things like having clean roads, good personal care and hygiene, building nice public places is still not an Indian thing?

It has got a lot to do with the Civic sense. No matter how much any government tries for it, it wont happen until our civic sense improves on a collective basis.

True. Indians, as a society, lack civic sense and sense of ownership. We think that it is govts responsibility to build and maintain everything (public infra). We don't care about anything thats not personally ours. It has lot to do with taxes. You thought of this shows you are a tax payer. If you are not paying taxes how does it matter to you?
The other point is, for majority of Indians, the first priority is roti, kapda, Makaan; and politicians don't want people to move up.
We don't question and hold politicians responsible. There is absolutely no accountability for politicians. I feel it is safest job to be politicians, look at Nitish Kumar.
Educated ans Tax payers don't vote and uneducated and non tax payers are the vote bank for politicians. It is very difficult to get out it till the time politicians and society feels sense of belonging and ownership.

Right on point🫡 But how to incorporate this in masses across the country.

It’s the last thing we as Indians will ever achieve. Chest thumping and bleating Indian pride is all great until you see half the exact same people spitting in public places and whipping it out to pee on roads

I’ve seen highly educated and supposedly sophisticated people throw plastic out of the window of moving cars and spitting gum on pavements

Education and civic sense are often conflated. Fuck Indians, we don’t deserve better
