Indians wholeheartedly hate people who make money
It's a very Indian mindset to treat or look down upon people who make a lot of money. We find some or the other reason to bring them down. We call them names. Though most of our life problems can be solved by money.
Just like there is an American dream I think the Indian dream is to stay middle class and bitch about people who do the hard work.
I understand that there are certain classes of people who are truly disadvantaged in terms of caste or patriarchy but for others it's just being lazy and reluctant to change.
Bitching about people who are successful just gives them a sense of achievement without actually putting in the effort.

I don't look down upon people who make money; I look down upon people who brag about it

@pareshaan for 5 seconds I got seriously worried remembering when the heck did I made this comment.
Now I realise. Phew!

Insert Spider-Man meme

Its true, but also seems contradictory to me In india people kiss rich peoples ass more and have some godly awe towards them, at the same time hating/being jealous over the limit

I agree with you. Although I don't think it's contradictory. It's simply "angoor khatte hain" sort of a thing

I don't hate people who make money. But I do hate people who are irresponsible, unemployed, non ambitious and just enjoy their comfortable life with their parents money.
I look down on them.
But I praise their hardworking, smart parents.

Haha, I don’t agree with you. I think these people are perfectly fine as long as they are happy with their lives. There is nothing wrong with not being ambitious. In fact I think there is immense joy in being out of the rat race

Every Indian Dad who works in a government job & sees his friends making big bucks in their family business or in a private job 🤣🤣

What about his son?

This is v true. I have experienced jealousy from relatives first hand. That lead to strained relationships and I feel sad about it. Things could have been different, and better.
That said, there's another side to this. Indians in particular have a very bad habit of flaunting once they reach a certain point. It's kind of inviting negativity. Not all of India, but specific parts have this flaunting mindset almost engrained in their dna.

It’s primarily seething cope from people watching their own peers get way ahead of them when both started similarly. Typical crab mentality to get everyone else down to their levels.

This is typical only among salaried people. I was surprised to see this missing among business people. Among competitors there are other unsavory behaviour. But peers who come from different related fields dont behave this bad as we see among coworkers.

What are you basing your post on?

My biases 🤷♀️

you do not have to go other places to find these kind of people, go through the posts here on this platform and you will find plenty of jealous folks spitting venom about IITians and high paying grads
